Ecopista do Dão - A 49 km paved cycle path following the old rail road tracks from Santa Comba Dão to Viseu in central Portugal. Even if the area around it is mountainous, the cycle path itself has no big slopes and offers a relaxing cycling experience.

It's a small archeological museum focused on a fascinating individual, José Coelho. The collection is captivating, the exhibit interesting and the building is a show. Of its own - delightful. Totally worth the visit, also because the staff is super nice.

Hidden away in an abandoned quarry this place was a real surprise. I think we surprised them too - they seemed to be caught out by actual visitors turning up. As with much of this part of Portugal, very few staff spoke English but that didn't stop them making us feel very welcome as they looked after us, the only visitors that afternoon. All the information boards are in Portugese only but they have a supply of booklets with the English which kept the family (including a teenager doing GCSE geology) informed while I got to practice my pidgin Portugese. So much more than I was expecting. Neat, clean, well laid out and very interesting.
