Our mission here at Wildlife Survival is to rescue animals without prejudice. We do not intentionally breed, and we DO Not sell our animals! We do not take our animals out in public or allow direct contact with the public. We were founded to provide the animals we rescue with over-sized natural habitats where they can live out their lives peacefully while being provided with the best possible care they deserve. Our animals call the sanctuary their permanent home where they can be safe from harm.
Being able to be so close to the cages. The cages are large and the animal can "hide" from observers. They neuter or spay the animals. There is an excess of wild animal being held as pets. They rescue

Use the ramp to launch boat. The ramp is well built, accesible and protected from waves and wind. Area is kept clean and tidy! Also a good area to walk and observe nature. Fishing pier is looking good again!

When everything is at its peak in blooming and health, this is a nice place to wonder through. With only donations of time and money keeping this place afloat, they are doing a great job. On Monday and Saturday they offer plants for sale in their showroom area. Depending on the timing, you can find great bargains and rarities. Normal inventory is still priced very reasonably. Staff knowledge is mixed, but there are people there that do have great knowledge of the plants offered. Informal place that feels like you are walking into someones home garden. Nice group of volunteers. Please stop by and take a look. It is free (donations are an non-pressured option).

The Ranger show was interesting, swimming in the springs was refreshing (bring googles, so cool to see fish under the floating dock), and roaming peacocks. The mermaid show is cool to watch, but the scare jump factors were a little over the top towards middle and at end. Lockers weren’t able to be used when water park isn’t operating which the only bummer.

Great place to take the kid, so much to do - the playground is much improved over the past couple years, there is a boardwalk along the water where manatees can be seen swimming often, a foot bridge across to the other side of the park where you can climb many steps to the top of the observatory for great views of the area, picnics tables scattered along the water, and many locals fish along the banks. Lots to do at this little park!

Not to be confused with the Weekiwachee river, the preserve is a wildlife area that has numerous trails through flat, mostly sunny nature. Wild turkeys, deer, gopher tortoises, water birds, eagles and other wildlife live in the preserve. Best times to see wildlife are early morning or near dusk. This area is not a park. It is a nature preserve. This means basically no amenities. I live here and run in the preserve all the time but I’d never use the one bathroom. Numerous “hills” can be climbed if you want a nice view. Plan on how you will take out your own trash if you visit because there are no trash cans.
