One of Tenerife's top resorts, Puerto de la Cruz is on the north coast of the island. Both Spanish and island traditions are evident in the former fishing village. Its Sardine Festival and annual Carnaval are two highlights of life on the island. Busy, narrow streets of the Old Town, packed with colonial architecture, make walking a safer bet than driving. Popular attractions include Lago Martianez, the casino, Parrot Pool, the Banana Plantation and the Botanical Gardens, which date back to 1788.

Loro Parque is the world-famous and adored by all animal adventure park in the Canaries. Get ready for excitement and fun at this "must see" attraction..
We went on a transfer from Playa de las Americas, which doesn't take as long as they say! Fantastic park with so much to see! Highly recommend the tour that they offer you when you go in as you get to see everything behind the scenes as well such as the vets, penguins and go underneath the orca whale tank to see them! They tell you everything about the place as well and will help you to find out which order to do the shows in! Whale and dolphin shows are a must!! Food is above average but fine for snacks and drinks!

One of the attractions of the beautiful Puerto de la Cruz. It is worth going there just to see what a great wealth of plants can be seen in this area. It's such a small nature lesson for everyone, beautiful flowers and amazing trees. Just beautiful !

The Costa Martianez Tourist Complex, also known as Lago Martianez, is a leisure and entertainment zone comprising seven artificial seawater swimming pools and a large lake, as well as gardens, terraces, islands, viewpoints, solaria, cultural spaces, bars and restaurants. It currently constitutes the symbol and main tourist attraction of Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife, the most traditional and prestigious tourist city on the Canary Islands. The Costa Martianez Complex is the pride of Puerto de la Cruz and all of Tenerife. The quality and beauty of its facilities provide the visitor with the most suitable environment for bathing and relaxing and, thanks to the Canary Islands’ privileged climate, can be enjoyed at any time of the year.
With it's simply stunning main lake and several smaller pools, what Puerto de la Cruz lacks in beaches Costa Martianez certainly makes up for! It's perfectly manicured and well kept with plenty of sunbeds and places to grab a snack and a drink and at 5.50 euros entrance it's excellent value. As others have said, you can pop in and out as much as you want during the day as long as you hang on to your ticket but we were sucked into the tranquillity and spent the whole day here.

My husband and I visited this charming restaurant which had been recommended in the Tenerife scenic drive book we were following. A charming courtyard, soon filled up with locals. The owner was charming and brought out a lovely bottle of wine, then a delicious grilled cheese and a dish of scrambled eggs, mushrooms and prawns. Definitely recommend.

The street art is located on the side of buildings throughout La Ranilla, the old Fishermen’s District/ PDLC’s Old Town. There is an eclectic mix of modern art, some very large murals and some smaller and much less noticeable, so it’s fun to keep your eyes peeled. La Ranilla, is very close to Plaza Charco and the Port area, it is mainly pedestrianised and on the flat. As well as the public art there are colourful buildings with balconies, charming cottages and lots of inviting restaurants. This was my favourite part of town. A hidden gem of an area and well worth exploring. Highly recommend.

A beautiful plaza lined with restaurants and cafes.
This is one of the main hubs of this charming and characterful town - and is very pleasant to stroll around of an evening taking in the lively atmosphere and hustle and bustle. There is a vibrant cosmopolitan mix of tourists & locals of all ages, and plenty of choice of seating either within the park itself, or at one of the several bars & restaurants within the area. Loved to listen to the various top-class singers, guitarists & performers at various bars & eating places - though sometimes it seemed they were in competition to out-do one another. You may get a bit of hassle from vendors trying to get you in to their properties - but we took it in good humour. Fabulous place to people-watch.
