Parco Nazionale dell'Arcipelago di La Maddalena

La Maddalena Archipelago National Park is a geomarine protected area consisting of a group of islands situated in the north-east of the coast of Gallura, in the stretch of sea between Sardinia and Corsica known as Bocche di Bonifacio. These islands – except for La Maddalena Island housing the homonymous town and characterized by a significant human presence – are entirely deserted or scattered with small human settlements, like in Caprera and Santa Maria Islands.

We spent a few hours one late afternoon hiking at Capo Testa - it was a fantastic experience. The paths are broad and well-marked and the views are fabulous. The rock formations are fascinating - they make you want to be a geologist just to understand how they could have evolved. Those few hours were so much more than we had ever expected. The paths are sometimes steep but not particularly difficult.

Spiaggia La Cinta

Picturesque long stretch of beach with crystal clear shallow waters and fine sand. Large car park right next to the beach (chargeable), but can be walked in about 25 minutes from San Teodoro centre. As one end there are two nice beach bars serving drinks and light snacks at reasonable prices. The further down the beach you go the quieter it becomes if you prefer it not so busy. Lots of sun loungers available for a daily charge. Certainly one of the best beaches in the area.

Chiesa San Lorenzo

Reviewed By lovetohike1111 - Prescott, United States

We had a driver for the day during our visit to northern Sardinia and we let him take us to his most special places and this church was our very first stop. Admittedly, the church’s exterior is very unassuming with the exception of the stained glass window above the entryway. We all looked at each other and thought, huh? But when we entered the sanctuary, our jaws dropped! The architecture, the use of natural materials, the ceiling, the stone work, the interior glass work is minimalist and absolutely stunning. This is a MUST see if you are in the area.

Nuraghe la Prisgiona

Archaeological site. Bronze age Nuraghe with village.

Reviewed By electra-review - Bristol, United Kingdom

We went in terrible weather and had trouble finding our way in as the gate was locked. Went back to nearby restaurant to have a drink and get help. They were very nice people but suffering a power cut but we were happy with a glass of local wine and the shelter. Shown track to the ticket office and unlocked by then. The site was set in a cork oak forest with some very ancient trees. The village has a defensive wall and central tower and the ruins of buildings used for handicrafts including pottery production and bread making. Horseshoe bats were roosting in one of the buildings so we were careful not to disturb them.
