Surrounded on almost all sides by water, Port Townsend offers many places to launch your vessel of choice, from rowing scull to yacht. Frequent races, regattas and the annual Wooden Boat Festival testify to the relationship between land and sea. For the land lubbers, there are also numerous parks surrounding the city, including Fort Worden and Old Fort Townsend State Parks and, further away, Olympic National Forest. An artists' haven, the town is home to many galleries and a vibrant Art Walk.

A historic cinema in downtown Port Townsend, with the best in current film, cult flicks and classics. The auditorium and facade feature gorgeous details from the Rose's day as a vaudeville house, dating back to 1907. With delicious popcorn, plus beer and wine and and a beautiful collection of film photos, the Rose is truly a one-of-a-kind experience. Like no other small town theatre you've seen. Worth a visit even if you're not going to a movie!
Sure the screen is a little smaller and may not have all the bells and whistles of the Mall theatres but the charm oozes out of every corner of this retro jewel! Plus when have you ever had the manager bounce up on stage and play trivia with you before a show...probably never...except here. So, settle into your velety seat with a freshly poured beer. wine or hard cider and bask in a time when movie theatres were more than just a vechicle to stream your movie; they were part of the entertainment experiance.

Stroll along beautiful beaches and explore rows of Victorian-style houses: this park has something for everyone.
This is a great location for walking and learning about the history of the area. The significant historical implications of the former military base coupled with its transformation to become an excellent destination for a picnic, meal, walking, wedding photography, and romantic moments to reflect.

This popular waterfront park was established over a century ago.
More than a neighborhood park, Chetzemoka is one many special Port Townsend places. Ramble in the park, swing on the swings or in the "porch swing" while enjoying the view of the Straits of San Juan de Fuca. At low tide walk on down to enjoy the beach below the park.

Jefferson Museum of Art & History is located in Port Townsend's historic 1892 City Hall building. The Museum features award-winning exhibits that display our unique cultural history of Maritime, Native American, and Early Settler life throughout its multiple galleries. The historic courtroom is now an art gallery, displaying the works of noted regional artists. Once Port Townsend's Fire Hall, Courtroom, Jail and Police Station in the late 1800s, the building itself has many stories to tell! May through October the Museum offers historic walking tours of our beautiful Victorian seaside city. The Jefferson County Historical Society also operates the historic Rothschild House as well as the Commanding Officers Quarters at Fort Worden which are open to the public from May through September.
A very interesting museum and art gallery and part of a working town hall and court house,my favorite part was the old cells and horse drawn Hurst and carriage

Thoroughly enjoyed our short camping trip at Fort Townsend. Easy walking access to the water (although I would not want to carry a kayak up or down the hill) with rocky beach to explore at low tide. Lots of well marked , manicured trails throughout. Although many of the fort’s original building are long gone, there are information plaques identifying their locations. Campsites at the tent campground are well groomed and offer more privacy than most. The limited number of campsites (27?) keep the traffic and noise level low. As noted in other reviews, RV sites are closer together and offer less privacy. The park staff was courteous and helpful. The map handout was very useful and pretty accurate. On our list of favorite spots for shorter camping outings.

The most friendly and amazing artists as well incredible local food vendors and super nice, knowledgeable farmers. Today I bought shitake mushrooms picked this morning, arugula and my favorite sandwich at Bob's Bagel, The Spicy Rocket! Oh and a loaf of bread from Pane D Mor!
