This open-air theatre is dramatically situated on the cliffs at Porthcumo, near Land's End, and hosts a season of plays and musicals from March to November.
Following a great scenic drive from St Ives past Zennor, St Just and Sennen Cove we arrived at the theatre. Luckily it was a stunning sunny day. The Covid precautions were well managed and the staff all had a friendly welcoming and positive attitude. The play was brilliant and the actors all very talented. The acoustics were amazing even when doing battle with a passing helicopter! The setting is magical - just make sure you have warm clothes and/or a rug as when the sun goes down, it does get a bit chilly.

Opened in March 2016, Newlyn Filmhouse is becoming a popular place to visit. Positioned opposite the Coombe River, the building cuts into a steep granite bank, cleverly housing a two screen Cinema and spacious Cafe Bar. We recommend booking in advance for films, events and restaurant meals. The digital screens feature armchair and sofa style lumbar seating with a tiered layout. The top of the range projection equipment provides razor-sharp Barco DP2K8S digital viewing with audio via punchy 5.1 Dolby Sound Systems. As well as the best in mainstream and alternative cinema, offerings include live events, children's films and local titles. The fully licensed Cafe Bar upstairs is a great place to meet before or after a film, or pop into for a Monmouth coffee and a slice of cake. The seasonal menu provides freshly cooked delicious food, often chosen from the staff's favourite cookbooks. All fresh produce comes from within a half hour radius including fish from Newlyn Fish Company.
This is a small cinema with very high standards of comfort and service. We don't go often but always thoroughly enjoy the visit. Highly recommended.

Dated back to the later Iron Age and in continued use during the Roman period, this ancient settlement consists of about seven round huts, the walls of which are mostly intact and well preserved. Stunning views across the countryside and out to sea. Child and dog friendly.
We popped into Chysauster on the way to St Ives and so glad we did. There was a small car park with toilets. From there it is a 5 to 10 minute walk up a hill to the ancient village. The man in the English Heritage shop was so friendly and funny making my teenage daughters laugh when he said they might find an ancient version of Primark walking around the village. The village itself is fantastic and unlike anything I’ve ever visited before. There are lots of information boards and even a lookout over the whole site. Having looked around the kids decided to have a game of hide and seek which was so much fun. A really interesting day place.
