Gaze out at the azure Adriatic Sea from the sunny beaches of Otranto, in Italy's Puglia region. This historic port town attracts locals and tourists to its 10km of beaches and diving rocks. In town, the cathedral features large-scale mosaics dating back to the 12th century. If you love snorkeling and beautiful seaside views, it's worth making the short journey south to Porto Badisco.

We spent one hour with these beautiful horses on a trip to the bauxite lake. For us it was a beautiful experience, for how easy-going but at the same time safe the organisation was. The horses are wonderfully trained and truly cared for! During the trip a group of 10-14 people ride together in a snake-like queue, and this "caravan" vibe was for us part of the charm. The landscapes are awesome with a mix of countryside full of olive trees, orchards and sea views. All of this under the supervision of 2/3 skilled instructors. We really recommend it and suggest to book one or two days before.

Cape Palascìa, commonly known as Capo d'Otranto, is Italy's most easterly point. It is situated in the territory of the Apulian city of Otranto, in the Province of Lecce at 40° 7' northing and 18° 31' easting. The lighthouse there, recently renovated, is one of five Mediterranean lighthouses protected by the European Commission. It is often visited by tourists, especially at New Year, since it stands at the point where the dawn of the new year may first be seen in Italy.
