Crystal clear waters, hundreds kilometres of deep snow, cutting leafs, making dry hein, marking the baby reindeers and most of all guest with smile on their face, that how our days are made. Come to be our guest in Kuusamo. Our reindeer and fishing farm offers to YOU reindeer, fishing and nature program services in Kuusamo all year round. You are most welcomed to be our guest and spend experience time with us!
Visited the farm as our first stop during a weekend to Ruka. Mika met us in the arrivals lounge at the airport and then drove us to the farm. Spent a couple of hours riding reindeer sleds, feeding reindeer and learning about reindeers and reindeer farming followed by time in a traditional reindeer farmers house drinking hot drinks and eating cookies and sausages. Received our reindeer driving licences and then Mika took us onward to our hotel in Ruka. Mika is an excellent guide - he is really friendly & knowledgeable about the reindeers and patiently answered questions from the kids (where is Rudolph etc.) We booked directly and it was significantly better value than going via one of the tour operators - we had a private visit for the same price as group trips to other farms!

Koiteli is little bit "busy" place and all time Oulu people favorite destination. Fast flowing river is very nice and barbecue places are excellent. There are very good walking ways and nature trip goes easy there. My 3 y.o son was going totally crazy while exploring place. This is place to visit spring time when water is more wild.

Loihakka specialises in husky safaris. We are based in Varjakka, Oulu, Finland. In summer we also offer guided tours to the historical sawmill of the Varjakansaari Island. Our huskies love their work and we love to see them wagging their tails and eager to go. For this reason, our kennel is open on bookings only: as pack leaders, we want to make sure that our dogs have at least one full day of rest all to themselves. We have no minimum group size, so you are warmly welcome to visit our kennel on your own, too.

Would recommend this place to rent a snowmobile. Service is 5/5, snowmobiles 5/5 and all the outfits incl shoes, helmets, etc are ???????? Snowmobile was even for a woman a good choice to rent. Safe and clearly marked routes around Ruka were ????????

Situated only 30 minutes’ drive from Ruka ski resort, lies our farm Wanha Raatesalmi (Old Raatesalmi). From this unique and protected historical location on the lakeside, our riding tours take us through scenic landscapes in the heart of Kuusamo’s wilderness where have good chance to see wild animals e.g. reindeers. We emphasize personal service, safety and an environmentally friendly operation.
We did a 2 hour trail ride and it was simply awesome! Was luckily enough to be just us on the activity! I haven't ridden much at all and have to say that the Icelandic Horses are the most lovely, calm, well mannered and ideal horses to ride! The area where the stables are located and the trail we went on is stunning - the temperature was around -16°C and had over a metre of snow on the ground in a lot of places but this just added to the beauty and splendor! Our guide was amazing too - explained everything that we needed to know how to ride, control the horses and had some interesting facts about the horses we were riding and the breed themselves! I highly recommend this to visitors as an activity to do for many reasons - the horses, scenery, time away from the slopes, to relax and many more! One tip - just make sure you have the appropriate clothing on for the time of year, our guide told us how people would turn up in highly inappropriate wear especially for the winter time trails! Luckily I didn't fall off my horse - if I had the snow would have been like a pillow to land on!!!!
