Located in Southern Oregon, the Rogue River is a great fishing area.
There are a couple sites just off the highway between Shady Cove and the Crater Lake road that are wonderful. They are an easy walk from the parking lot too for us seniors with health issues. It is a gorgeous River and interesting area.

A two-mile hiking path along the Rogue River in Southern Oregon.
A short hike from the parking lot takes you to view an incredible natural phenomenon, where the Rogue River drops into a Lava Tube and pops up about 20 yards down stream. This creates an area where you someone could walk across a "Natural Bridge" (actually fenced off so you can't actually walk on it).

Two flat-topped hills with an abundance of growing wildflowers.
If you're looking for some great quick hikes in Southern Oregon that even your young kids can do, both of these are great options. The trail is easily marked and good for even novice hikers. The view from the top is amazing and you feel like you are on top of the world!

We love the railroad park. All ages can enjoy it. They are open to the public on a limited basis. Most all the times we have been there are for a private party or gathering. We went to a church BBQ there on Saturday where there were probably 200 people in attendance. They are also a great activity for Birthday parties or family reunions. They have multiple scale trains to be seen. There is a great train ride that our kids ride almost nonstop while we are there. The clubs are super friendly and love trains.

A large lake with beautiful scenery and great fishing.
In early October we rode our bikes around the lake on the 11 mile paved trail. Absolutely beautiful, no bugs, no crowds. Takes about 2 hours.

We had a great time at this park while on a road trip up into Oregon. There is so much at this park - a lot of grass, trees for shade, a skate park, tennis courts, kids climbing playground, bathrooms (clean for public park), paved path for walking/bike riding. There is no main entrance (that we are aware of) just many entrances that are along residential streets. There was one parking lot that we found close to the tennis courts & skate park. The skate park was very cool - oh to be younger to enjoy this w/ a few friends. Couldn't wait to tell my grandkids about this. We ended up visiting this park 2 days. We brought our bikes with us and rode the paved bike trail that goes along the creek. The trail was plenty long for us - I think it goes for 30 miles or so - down to Ashland. A few people have commented on people that appear to be living in the park. Yes, we saw people - some said hi and others didn't but never had any fear or bad feelings. Felt as safe as we do anywhere else. One of the best things was when we came across the farmer's market which was setup alongside the park. What a great treat that was to get our lunch and continue our bike ride. Next time up we will ride back the other way. Bring some food, some drink and enjoy part (or all) of the day. A big shout out to Medford for creating such a space to enjoy.
