La Libertad (Spanish pronunciation: [la liβeɾˈtað]) is a region in northwestern Peru. Formerly it was known as the Department of La Libertad (Departamento de La Libertad). It is bordered by the Lambayeque, Cajamarca and Amazonas regions on the north, the San Martín Region on the east, the Ancash and Huánuco regions on the south and the Pacific Ocean on the west. Its capital is Trujillo, which is the nation's third biggest city. The region's main port is Salaverry, one of Peru's largest ports. The name of the region is Spanish for "freedom" or "liberty"; it was named in honor of the Intendencia of Trujillo's proclaiming independence from Spain in 1820 and fighting for that.

This archaeological zone, an excellent example of pre-Colombian America, once served as the capital of the Chimu Kingdom, which reached the height of its power in the 15th century before falling under the Incas.
Ancient ruins uncovered in Peru and very interesting. Unfortunately the government does not have the money to carry on with the excavation of these sites but that have great value

PERUVIAN PASO HORSE AND MARINERA NORTENA.... the best and only show in Peru...MORE THEN 40 MINUTES OF SHOW!!! we are located in the corner of Via Evitamiento km567 and Calle "El Palmar"..right beside Tecsup
I had an awesome time! The performers and horses were enjoyable to watch. The food was superb! Enjoyed the folkloric dances and got to interact with the horses and go for a horse ride after the show. Horses are well trained and very gentle. The service and attention received was amazing. I highly recommend this tour. Good for family, couples and children.

The plaza is a great place to people-watch, sit, read, talk to people, meet puppies and watch dance performances. There are marble benches to sit on(no criss-cross sitting allowed). There are vendors who sell food, bubbles and toys. We watched a presentation of La Marinera folk dance and it was amazing! See it on IG: @flip_in_philly

This historic site outside of Trujillo, is still being documented and the range of items in the Museum are beautifully presented. The ancient Moche civilization was very sophisticated and a visit to the this excavation site and Museum with a guide provides an insight about a past world. I strongly recommend organizing to go with a guide to get a deeper understanding. The Lady of Cao is a well preserved mummy and she is displayed with many of the artifacts that were found in her burial place. I was transfixed by her and all that I saw. We spent about 1.5 hours between the site and the small museum. And a note that in the gift shop were some of the nicest T-shirts with Moshe motifs that were stylish and nicely fabricated. Worth checking out.
