In the hilly countryside of Djursland, Gammel Estrup Manor stands with its red walls and high towers. The history of the manor can be traced back to the 1300's, and for 600 years - until 1926 - it was owned by the same family. For generations the manor was the setting for the life of the family and its wealth - with beautiful art objects, a great number of employees, and presentable surroundings. All year round Gammel Estrup Manor offers activities and exhibitions on life at the Danish manors. The elegant halls, the big kitchen, the baroque garden with the Orangeries, and the surrounding cultivated landscape all give us an insight into the life of high and low througout the times. There is a play area in connection with the baroque garden of the museum. You may enjoy your packed lunch in one of the Orangeries or at the open air benches and tables. You are also welcome to picnic on the lawns og buy your launch at Restaurant The Old Stable. Dogs on a leash are welcome in the garden.
Make your choice eæwhen you arrive: The Castle or the farming museum - Both will take a lot of time. I went for the castle castle first, and that is imho the best choice. Also visit the black smith and the park.

The wooden frigate ‘Jylland’ is one of the longest and most significant historic wooden ships in the world. Built in 1857-1860, it was both the first and last warship in the Danish navy with an originally inbuilt steam driven engine and sails – a cutting edge hybrid of its time, superior in speed with its long and slender hull. It survived 18 hits during the battle of Heligoland 1864 and worked as a royal ship, sailing King Christian IX to the Faroe Islands, Iceland and Saint Petersburg in 1874 and 1876. Since then, the old warship has functioned as lodging for soldiers and children of the rural districts of Denmark, as exhibition facilities of the National Exhibition of 1909 and others. Many times, it has faced the destruction of slow decay and being sold for scraps. Thanks to ardent people, skilled craftsmen and generous foundations, the proud ship survived and now resides in its dry dock in Ebeltoft. WELCOME ABOARD!
A really great experience, but there was not enough information about the daily working of this wonderful vessel of war.One example was the artillery-deck crew's individual function when manning the piece The children wanted to know how they loaded and who fired the canon. We could find no information on this subject. The level of technical information needs radicle improvement.Otherwise a great and adventurous-day of the kids that included rope making and sextant reading. The very fragrance of the shipyard and its functions were enjoyed by all.Thank Jyiiand.

Djurs Sommerland i Scandinavia's biggest summerland and simply just more fun for all. Experience 9 fantastic themed areas, Denmark’s biggest roller coasters, the giant Aqua Park and more than 60 rides for kids of all ages. Come see why Djurs Sommerland was named “Best Family Park in Europe 2019” and “Danish Theme Park of the Year 2020”.
Very nice park, with on the one hand many rides suitable for teenager, and on the other hand many playgrounds for younger children. There are also many picknick area's. We went at the end of the season and it was very quiet, which resulted in almost no queues. For all the rides facemasks are needed. They only accept disposable masks, but you can buy them at the ride for DKK 5. You do need new masks for each ride.

Visit Ree Park Safari and have an unforgettable time in the exciting world of animals. Djursland's big safari park offers wild experiences and activities among animals from 4 continents. Take a train ride across the Northamerican prarie or go on a Land Rover Safari, driving around among the many African animals on the savannah. Continue the day with an entertaining bird show where the large birds of prey fly just over your head. The animals get extra close at feeding time. You can see Denmark's only cheetahs hunt for their lunch, watch the otters flock around their food and a lot of other exciting feeding moments around the park. The children will love a ride on one of the park's large camels, and at the playground there's an opportunity to burn off excess energy - under watch of the striped Sumatra tigers that live just next to it!
I was there with my husband and daughter, sister in law, her husband and two sons, (kids:6-3,5-2,5) and mixed languages of Danish , English and German. We spend the night in a luxury tent at the Camel Camp. Included in our stay was; A guide, Sigurd, who took us on both walking- and Jeep-Safari. He was really good at explaining what we saw and general information about the animals and the park and we were able to translate to the German-speaking of the group. Only downside to the Jeep-Safari was that the rhinos and giraffe already were in the stables by the time we had our Safari. We got to feed the wolfs and wild dogs at night and the otters in the morning. We went to the rhino staples in the evening but they were sadly preoccupied with food so we didn’t see them much. We walked a lot around the park ourselves and we were lucky to see all the animals in the park. We also payed extra to go on the America Express which was a really nice experience as well. I’m definitely going back and would really consider to spend the night again. I would recommend it to everyone that loves animals and kids????

Scandinavian Wildlife Park is a themed animal park. We have specialized in scandinavian wildlife and we are well-known for our huge parks for polar bears, brown bears, stellers sea eagles and wolves, and a whole lot of other nordic animals. The park covers an area of 470.000 square meters, and is a place where the whole family can get close to animals and get a feel of nature in a realistic way.
Excellent nature park, wide open spaces where you can experience the animals in a near authentic nature environment. When we visited, it was not very busy, which was nice and gave us plenty of time and space to explore the different parts of the park. We also had the pleasure of meeting the guide Lærke, she explained in depth a lot of the habits of the animals and their environment, really added to the visit. The brown bears was the absolute highlight, the mothers playing with their cubs could entertain us for days.

A really good zoo for children in the age of 2-10. There's a lot of animals you can pet and touch. The staff does some show with reptiles and spiders for the young to see. They also makes an event during the feeding of the animals. Present and talk about each animal and their attributes and natural habitats. A big playground is also available next to their dining area (grill and burger bar)

Get smitten by the sea at the Kattegatcenter! Feel the fear when sharks surround you, paddle a kayak on an icy ocean and fall in love with our clever seals, while they gobble herring and learn the alphabet! Whether you prefer to stay on dry land or jump in at the deep end in a wetsuit, you will find an ocean of experiences both indoors and out at the Kattegatcenter that will leave a lasting impression! Our daily shark training in the tropical shark tank gives our visitors an insight into the fascinating world of sharks. The large rays dance at the surface, whilst shark fins cut through the water and razor sharp teeth snatch flatfish out of the trainer's hand. Get up close and risk getting wet, or watch the show from our shark tunnel, where there is only 6cm between you and the sharks. For our smallest guests, we have a children's corner and touch tanks inside the center, whilst outside there is our exciting aqua-playground, where they can play, splash, creep and crawl amongst giant sea creatures! At the Kattegatcenter you can do more than just look through the glass. We have open aquaria where you can experience spray, smells and sounds, and touch tanks where you can "pat" a shark, play hide and seek with flat fish and hold a starfish or a crab in your hand. You can also take the plunge and experience everything up close. More than 250 amazing, colourful species of aquatic animals are waiting to enchant you forever. See you soon!
Took a quick planned visit to this awesome aquarium on a sunday morning out of season. The straff was extremely friendly and the fish dermed to have an amazing time with well kept tanks. The best experience on the whole trip today would be the amazing touch pool and the funny seals! Very children friendly and family friendly location, very recommended!
