Franklin Theatre

The Franklin Theatre opened in the summer of 1937 when the marquee first illuminated Main Street. The downtown historic landmark closed in 2007 but reopened as a 300 seat venue in 2011 with an investment of more than $8.5 million to again entertain, enrich, inspire and connect our community. It still features classic and recent release movies, community and private events - but most exciting are the live concerts by diverse original talents such as Sheryl Crow, Art Garfunkel, Glenn Miller Orchestra, Vince Gill, Keb Mo and many more. From blues to bluegrass, country to classical, rock to roots...you'll find an amazing roster of shows in one of the best listening rooms anywhere!

We visited for the awesome show of Lee Roy Parnell and Friends - including the beautiful Ms. Lisa Stewart and the incredible guitarists Seth James and Anson Funderburgh. These guys put on a helluva show. Lots of historic charm as Franklin theater was originally built in the 1930's, fell into disrepair in the 00's and eventually went through a big-budget renovation and restoration. Incredible sound and lighting system, comfortable seats and an overall great feel to the place. Loved the easy bar and concessions service. A great place to see a live show.

I am so glad to see that Liveminds has survived the pandemic as it was top notch! We took our nephew and his family, including two teenage boys and we all had a blast! It was the Indiana Jones style adventure. We needed a total of six hints and their view on that is that they would rather give us what we need to have a good time, rather than have us fail! Everyone loved it!! Highly recommend!

Downtown Franklin

Located just a straight shot south from downtown Nashville, quaint downtown Franklin is the perfect sleepy Southern town. Visitors can easily spend a day browsing antique shops and boutiques and dining at one of its many ecelctic restaurants. Downtown Franklin offers an eclectic mix of antique shops, gift and book stores, art galleries and clothing boutiques. Franklin hosts several festivals each year.

The biggest things that I love about this town is that it has parking garages that do not charge a thing to park in! That is already one way I am more in favor of this town then I am of Nashville! But let's get to the serious business: populated with so many small stores and shops, this town also features a Civil War Memorial in the heart of downtown in the center roundabout! On our walk up and down the streets, we came across many historical homes that featured such great elegance and grace! There was even a shop titled, "The Shop Around The Corner". Even though children's literature was not the focus of this shop, I still would have been tickled pink to have seen Meg Ryan there! So if you want to visit a very beautiful well-maintained small town and get some shopping done without having to go to Nashville, make the short drive out to Franklin and enjoy!

Confederate Memorial Park at Winstead Hill

In Sept. as a member of the United Daughters of Confederacy, I attended a dedication of a monument and wreath laying dedicated to the Missouri soldiers who died at the Battle of Franklin.. I was saddened by the number of Missouri Boys who died there. The park is beautiful, well maintained and very much worth visiting. Quiet and peaceful now and very informative about the Civil War. History happened no matter how we feel about it and these valiant men should not be forgotten, no matter what a person's views are on the causes of the Civil War.

Plenty of trails wind through this horse farm. Trails are marked for both equestrian and/or walking paths. The small lake is beautiful and a great spot for kids to fish. Various historical markers explain the parks history and present use. Such a great find on the edge of downtown Franklin. Good photo ops here!
