For aviation/military enthusiasts or not, this is such an interesting place, which is child friendly and beautifully kept. The staff are very friendly and we found a very knowledgable Air Force officer who spoke perfect English, my Spanish is weak! Allow about 2 hours and there is a cafe on site with a nice patio. Got there by Uber from Bogotá, but there is bus service to the adjacent theme park ‘Parque Jaime Duque’

Artsy accommodations, beautiful birds, and fantastic food in idyllic setting. We stayed two nights here, and it could not have been better. I love the whimsical and personal touches that Victoria had added throughout the location. Her hospitality is unmatched. A hummingbird dream and rich with many other species as well. I would definitely recommend.

Super fun day trip, there is a moderate hike, about 15 minutes to get to the top, mostly stairs, only challenging because of the altitude (~3000 m). View is incredible. There is a Spanish guided tour, explaining some of the history and vegetation in the area; hopefully someone in your group or you speak Spanish to understand this (or if you have a private tour, you should be good too). Definitely recommend in your 2-3 days in Bogota. There is likely to be rain, so have a good rain jacket.

We have been locked down for months and going stir crazy. A lady I work with mentioned this park as a place to spend an afternoon. My expectations were not high, but wanted to get out. This place has everything. Full size replica of the Taj Mahal, ships, museums, rides, original 7 wonders of the world, nature walks, a zoo, etc. Only got through half in a day. We will be going back.

This was our favorite thing that we did when we were in Bogota. It's such a beautiful place and since it's Colombia, everything was super cheap. The park entrance fee was around $US 4.50/person. We hiked with our family of 5 down the trail to the Refugio, a charming lodge with great views of the surrounding cliffs. The trail includes parts of an old Inca trail and is a magical, if somewhat slippery walk through misty jungle forests. The Refugio area has lots of semi-tame wild llamas that our kids enjoyed. There is a nice restaurant in the Refugio where we had lunch. The prices are very reasonable. Definitely go for the lunch special, which includes main dish, salad, dessert and drink for around $US 5.00. They also have ziplining near the Refugio for around $6.00, which our kids loved. Sadly, we didn't get there early enough in the day to hike some of the other trails there. Our favorite thing was taking horses back up the trail to the park entrance, costing around $US 9.00/person. It was a wild ride, and definitely worth it to save us out-of-shape gringos from having to walk all the way uphill at 8000 feet elevation. It was a bit of a trip to get to the park, as it was maybe an hour and a half ride from our hotel in Chapinero. A driver was recommended to us and he stayed the whole day and drove us for $COP 50,000 each way, plus his entry to the park and lunch. You could negotiate a deal with a taxi driver or with Cabify, or take the park's shuttle, which they offer on the weekend for $COP 6000/person to/from the Terreros Transmilenio station in Soacha. Otherwise, you could get stuck out there, as phone reception is spotty. It's definitely worth the trip to see another side of Colombia outside the big city of Bogota.

Mina de Sal de Nemocon

The Salt Mine Nemocón with over 500 years of history underground is an attraction of Colombia in South America, imposing building at 80 meters deep. Mining tunnels descending the mountain bearing the visitors begin their journey through this amazing construction that will take you to the House of mirrors natural brine, salt cascade over 80 years old and the fountain or wishing well, which they are some of the magical places to discover. In the chamber of the Chapel with its enormous sphere carved in rock salt 1300 kilos symbolizing the world's mining tradition is revived, wedding vows, thanksgivings miners, drivers and devotees of the Virgen del Carmen are renewed. In hunch camera or the lovers I surprised with the salt crystal only 1,600 kilos in the world, carved in the shape of heart.
