We really just wanted to use the library bathroom, but were taken by the excellent assortment of books for sale in the lobby. As well, they have a little bookstore at the back of the library with worthwhile books for sale at very reasonable prices. Bravo!

So hear my little story. Due to the virus, they haven't been renting bikes for a while. I reserved the bike rental through rentabikenow.com. When I called to confirm the rental, they said they didn't rent bikes. I was confused, and called again. They said I was the first bike renter they had in months, and they weren't renting bikes directly from the store yet. So, if you want to ensure you rental, get it through that website 24 hours0 in advance. When I picked up the e-bike, for my wife, as no self-respecting athlete, like me, would ever need one; Nelson was very helpful, and got us on our way. Uno problemo...it was 1:00, and we planned to circle the 24 mile bay loop, but the shop closed at 3:00. Well we were pedaling our way around, and a biker we met told us that the 5th street ferry wasn't operating, and we would hafta go to the 1st street ferry. We pushed hard and made it to the ferry at 2:20 Well the 1st street ferry runs on the hour, and the 5th street ferry, which we passed by, runs on the bottom of the hour...AND WAS WORKING!! So we had to wait til 3:00 to catch the ferry, ride the 15 minutes to cross, then pedal to the store to return the bikes. We called the shop, and they said they would be closed, but told us to go around the back to drop of the bikes. How accomodating!! So, bottom line. Rent thru the website, know the ferry schedule, if you are going to use it; know that about 2-1/2 hours of pedaling will be needed for a pretty good athlete to ride the course, with a hybrid; and RENT FROM HOLLAND'S BICYCLES!!

Popular surfing beach.
You must get here early to secure a parking spot as there are not many. The only exception is if you are military and then the other side of this beach is open to you with more parking and a beach too, but it's for military families. The beach has beautiful white sand with lovely shells being thrown up on it as it's open to the coast. The view out to sea with large ships, Point Loma Pennisula, and Cabrillo National Monument is great. In the background is the low growl of planes from North Island Naval Air Center. Overhead fly helicopters infrequently which children love to see. I saw a pelican flying across the breakers looking for a meal.

Home town, small town, and everyone's town ... oh, wouldn't that be great? A lovely center of town, filled with grass, play equipment, a gazebo, and enough open space to throw an actual football without facing an assault lawsuit. Coronado got this right. Coronado is (by itself) a slice of paradise (not a large one, mind you) and it just oozes those qualities found in community-centric locations. None could be better! The folksy library is across the street, fun little cafes and eateries line Orange Avenue (the main drag), and it embraces its art-deco identity with a whole heart. The town planners held this treasured piece of real estate for the betterment and pleasure of the whole of the community. What a concept! Think it will catch on? Nah, I don't either. Sadly.

A mere two-mile drive from cosmopolitan, downtown San Diego, across one of the world's most distinctive bridges, is Coronado Island - a world away. Developed in 1888 as a beach resort town, and home to the famous Hotel del Coronado, the island is blessed with one of the finest beaches in the world and bathed in endless sunshine. Coronado today is a vibrant beach community loaded with charm.
This is one of San Diego's great place to visit. The hotel del Coronado is definitely worth staying at or just to go and visit. The beach is pristine and beautiful at sunset for that loved one to walk with,With the sand on your feet and a dog beach at the far end near the base. There is a shopping area called Coronado ferry landing, were there is a place to eat and shop and see downtown San Diego. At night is a beautiful site when San Diego is lite up and a perfect spot for fireworks on the fourth of July. You can take the ferry to downtown San Diego and take a pedy cab to seaport village or downtown San Diego or walk. You can just take a round trip on the ferry back to Coronado. there is a bike rental at the Coronado landing, were you can bike all over the island, the walkway at the landing is very relaxing and it will take you to the park if you head towards the Coronado bridge. If you rent a car I suggest a convertible as you can see a lot more and is great for picture taking and live that California life style. You can take a lovely drive on the strand to imperial beach just drive past the Coronado hotel were they have the famous sand castle contest.Check on the internet to find out when it is.Downtown Coronado has up scale restaurants and nice places for having coffee to relax and people watch. On Tuesday there is a farmers market at the ferry landing. And a lovely golf course with the beautiful views of san Diego for that golfer.
