Great new wide premier screen. I have also been twice since reopening and the safety measures are good. unfortunately the cinema was virtually empty an a Sunday 1540 showing to watch the film Tenet. Please go and support this excellent asset for Bury which is really struggling to survive. Tickets are significantly cheaper than other larger cinema in Bury, and the new wide screen and sound system is superb as are the seats.

The Playground is a 1km long outdoor Assault Course with 25 obstacles. Our activities include Pay and Play sessions, Private group sessions, Boot Camp, OCR Training, Stag/Hen do packages, Corporate Events & Sport Specific sessions.
My mum decided she wanted to do an obstacle course for her birthday (62nd!) so I started looking around locally and discovered The Playground. As we were making it a family affair there would be 10 of us so decided to purchase one of their packages and I can safely say it was worth every penny. The site is as you would expect, a load of obstacles in a field but everything is clearly marked. They have toilets, ‘luxury’ showers aka hose pipes ???? and changing facilities for after the mud pits. The obstacles are simple but well put together, everything felt so safe and secure. We had an age range from 9 to 62 with various fitness abilities but we all helped and supported each other which was a great opportunity to have some fun together as well. Even obstacles that people initially felt they would not be able to do they surprised themselves and confidence grew with each obstacle. I cannot thank our playmaker enough, Angie was fantastic, she was great with the younger kids as they were almost too keen in some instances and very encouraging when some were struggling with the higher obstacles. There was no hard pressure to do anything people were uncomfortable with so everyone found it enjoyable. For anyone looking for something to do either on your own, as a small group or a larger group I would highly recommend The Playground! We took a long time to go round as there was quite a few of us and it was more team building and helping each other rather than who can do it the quickest but for those more competitive there is definitely the option to make it more time based.

The Troston Bull is an historic public house in the small village of Troston, just outside historic Bury St Edmunds. The old farm building was turned into pub with its own brewery in 1801. Following a prolonged closure (>5yrs) it’s new owners re-opened it July 2017. It serves a great selection of real ales and craft beers. You're guaranteed a warm welcome.
Our first pub visit since they re-opened post lockdown and was worth the wait! Lovely garden with a big canopy set up. Tables nicely spaced out. Really friendly staff/owners, and food was delicious. Great selection of drinks too. Will definitely come again if we’re ever passing through the area.

An Italianate Palace in the heart of an ancient deer park. Formal gardens, pleasure grounds, rolling Suffolk landscape and woodlands invite gentle strolls or long walks, runs, bike rides and picnics. The Italianate Garden mirrors the architecture of the house, whilst also encasing an idiosyncratic Victorian stumpery, contrasting light and shade. The Rotunda is home to one of the finest silver collections, family portraits by Gainsborough and Reynolds, works by Titian and Velázquez, and Neoclassical sculpture including Flaxman’s ‘Fury of Athamus’. Below stairs, the Servants’ Quarters recreate domestic service through the stories and memories of those who lived here. In 2019/2020, Ickworth is set to secure its future thanks to a major new conservation project. Ickworth is embarking on a multi-million pound major conservation project which will see us heading up to the roof. To find out more about the work visit the website and discover how Ickworth will be re-imagined during the works.
Didn't really know what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised, very interesting house, with lots to see, rooms set out in their original form, lots of visual information and helpful guides, enjoyed a 4 mile circular walk, including visiting the church and the walled garden. Would highly recommend for a great day out, free to National Trust members.

We enjoyed a lovely visit to the Abbey whilst visiting the town. It is lovely that this piece of British heritage is freely open to the public. Equally impressive is the way the gardens are lovingly maintained. Well worth a visit.

Built in 1819, this Grade 1 listed playhouse is the only surviving example of a Regency theatre in the UK. It is the only theatre open to the public in the National Trust's portfolio of properties. Fully restored to it's Georgian splendour, the intimate auditorium and exquisite decorative scheme will provide visitors with an unforgettable and unique theatrical experience. Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds presents a vibrant, year-round programme of drama, music, dance and stand up comedy. We also offer regular tours of the building, contact our Box Office to book a space on one of our tours.
Went on a tour of the theatre which was excellent. From the explanation of how the theatre worked from its start in 1819 (including smells, hats and fans) to the comprehensive tour of the seating, stage and backstage including the scenery room, green room and the orchestra pit, it was packed full of information and stories. The tour lasted just over an hour and we went back to see the small exhibition about Sir Peter Hall. You can take photos everywhere. Very welcoming staff. Highly recommended to those interested in theatre - and free for National Trust members!
