Coquet Shorebase Trust

Coquet Shorebase Trust is a water activity centre and we aim to make getting involved accessible for everyone. At our main centre at The Braid, Amble you can take part in canoe or kayak tours of the estuary looking at the wildlife, geology and history of the area from the water. We also offer powerboat courses so you can learn to handle a craft safely and receive a qualification. From our base at Druridge Bay Country Park, next to the visitor centre, you can hire kayaks, canoes, paddle boards, windsurfers and sailing dinghies to use on the lake. We are also able to offer dedicated instruction in both adult and children's activities Wetsuits, buoyancy aids and helmets are all provided and we have hot showers at both locations for when you come off the water. No experience is necessary for most activities but you do need to contact the office by phone or email to book so we can make sure that we can provide the best experience for you We look forward to welcoming you.

Warkworth Castle & Hermitage

Love this castle. We spent a couple of hours inside taking in the sights and having a picnic. There’s a one way system in the main building but it meant you got to see every part of it. Amazing how clever they were with the buildings We then took a walk down to the hermitage and although you can’t go over to see it at the minute it was a lovely walk down to the river and next time we’re back we’ll take the tour as a unique experience As always with English Heritage the staff are knowledgeable and friendly, making everyone’s visit a fantastic experience

Hauxley Wildlife Discovery Centre - Northumberland Wildlife Trust

Hauxley Wildlife Discovery Centre reopened to the public on Saturday 24th June 2017 following a 2 year closure for the creation of an exciting new visitor centre. The new eco-friendly, straw bale building has been largely constructed by a dedicated team of volunteers. The centre includes a 2km circular walk, wildlife watching hides, cafe, toilets, disabled access paths around almost half of the reserve and baby changing facilities. There is also a classroom that can be hired for private use for events, meetings and educational visits. An exclusive wildlife area can be accessed from the classroom for use by school groups.

This wildlife facility of lakes ,woodland ,visitor centre and cafe is an example of Lottery money well spent .Its previous building was old and I believe burnt down .The facility is managed by Notthumberland Wildlife Trust with many volunteers whose help and keeness is excellent .Try the good selection of homemade scones in cafe .The great numbers of wildlife attracted to the lakes is impressive from the various hides and viewing points in cafe .The walk around the perimeter of site is well laid out and 2k in length. A very good attraction to the area
