If you are visiting Almaty, take a day to visit the spectacular Charyn Gorge. About a two hour drive East of Almaty towards China to the Charyn national park, the area is surrounded by fantastic mountainous scenery. The walk down the gorge to the river is spectacular. Take plenty of water and sun screen as it is exposed and even in September it was hot. You can hire a guide in Almaty who will tell you everything you need to know about the region. Our party was three adults and Kanat, our guide. He was wonderful, cooking shashlyk for us and making our trip memorable. Very reasonably priced too. Also took us to Big Almaty Lake on a separate trip. A brilliant day.

We stayed near Kolsay Lake at Gostevoy Dom Alikhan in Kurmeti village. The lake is as beautiful as any in Europe without too many tourists. There re a small number of restaurants having delicious Kazakh dishes. The very friendly family who runs that hotel arranged for a horse ride to the lake. We even drank some tasty Kurmiss (fermented horse milk) at the lake.

We visited Kaindy lake in September 2018. We rented a driver in Saty (our host knew somebody) and I think that was the best choice ever, because the road to the lake is very difficult to drive by yourself if you don't have experience with driving off-road and you also need to have big jeep for that road. Our driver knew road very well and he made the drive a part of the attraction. The Kaindy lake is very beautiful. We walked around the lake for around three hours, you can also take horses to go around. I thing that this is attraction that you must visit if you are in Kazakhstan, because this lake is 100 years old and there is no like it nowhere near around. The trees in the water are really something special.

Good organization of the tour. Our guide Rifat showed us the most beautiful places of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. We were amazed by the beauty of Central Asia and the hospitality of the locals. We advise everyone to visit Central Asia and use the services of Kazakhstan Journey .

From the main road it’s an easy one kilometer and three hundred meters hike up the mountain , the hike it self is interesting because you are basically walking next to the downstream from the river coming down from the waterfall. There’s a bit of tricky part just at the end of the rout and just before reaching the waterfall but it’s not that difficult. The waterfall fall it self is beautiful and does deserve the drive and the hike. I highly recommend to combine it with visiting Lake Issyk.

On the slopes, especially for the summer season equipped with bike trails of different difficulty levels. Fans of Cycling will appreciate the ability to climb with the bike mountain cable car and descend via the scenic trails of the gorge Oy-Karagay.

Unique Complex "Eight Lakes Park Resort" is located a half-hour from Almaty center near Kamennoe Plato village in the Talgar district. Where there was recently a landscape typical for Kazakhstan, a steppe, now there are evergreens, gardens, and an expanse of swimming pools reflecting sunlight. This eco-city of the future is a hive of activity.
