The doors opened on 16 August 2000, the 60th anniversary of the original Test Platoon’s first parachute jump. The museum offers free admission, a main exhibit gallery, temporary gallery, four-story tall theater, a gift shop, and a motion simulator ride that features two experiences. Admission is free, and we do accept donations in the gift shop and in donation boxes in the lobby. The main gallery is designed as a self-guided tour, in chronological order, through the history of airborne and special operations soldiers from 1940 to the present. The temporary gallery changes periodically and displays a myriad of exhibits pertaining to the United States Army airborne and special operations units through their history and conflicts from World War II to the present.
Had the opportunity to visit the museum while visiting Fayetteville. Must say it was well worth it and brought back so many memories of 20 years assigned to SF at Bragg. Forgotten memories came flooding back when I saw pictures and faces of people on the wall that I served with and knew. Goose bumps came over me, recalling experiences. This was a long over due visit, having left the area almost 30 years ago. It was well worth the visit and I salute those involved in creating this museum of history that displays the sacrifices made by the soldier in defense of this great country. I also SALUTE the volunteers who sacrifice their time to make this place an memorable visit for the old soldier and his family upon their return. Highly recommend everyone visiting the Fayetteville area to stop by and see what history has recorded of the Airborne and Special Forces soldier.

Was an awesome well thought out escape room that had multiple rooms. Really played into the storyline. Caitlyn was awesome! She made sure we had fun as we needed a little extra help but did just give us the answers. Really made it fun and not frustrating. Our family will definitely go back. My youngest 10 and 11 were able to participate and had a lot of fun too.

The game was SO FUN!! I honestly did not complete the room but i was having fun with great puzzles. The staff were ALL amazing 10/10. The lobby was even extremely comfortable which was such a bonus, but we weren’t even waiting that long. We did the Scooby Doo game, our game host was Rebecca and our game master was Ashley! They both were great and made the experience that much better :) Would highly recommend :)

The 1897 Poe House is so named because it was built in the year 1897 and it was the home of the Poe family. The deed of the house is in the name of Josephine Montague Poe, originally from Wake County, who married Edgar Allan Poe in 1880. Edgar Allan Poe was born in Fayetteville and, although has the same name as the famous writer, our Mr. Poe was a local businessman, (born after the writer Poe died). Learn about life in the first decades of the twentieth century and the changes that defined this era by touring the home of an affluent Fayetteville businessman and his family. Tours highlight women's roles, African American history, children's roles, and technological, economic, and social changes in southern North Carolina and the country during this era. The 1897 Poe House grounds are available to rent for special events.
We were a group of 4 and were able to have the 3 o'clock tour all to ourselves. Great tour guide - retired grade school teacher who was very knowledgeable about the local history and specifically the history of the house. The museum has done a great restoration job of the entire house. Rather fascinating to step back over a hundred years ago. The house is large and obviously a wealthy family. Loved the architecture - especially all the wood! Interesting point to the house - it had electricity/gas and heat when built. However, no plumbing. One of the original family member lived in the house until 1988 without the luxury of plumbing! The backyard is set up to host events, including weddings (which does have a bathroom facility). Lovely setting.

Cape Fear Botanical Garden is a premier destination in Fayetteville, NC. We provide an urban oasis for local residents and visitors alike, as well as educational programming and recreational activities to strengthen our community.
We are so fortunate to have such a fabulous botanical garden in Fayetteville. My children love to visit and play in the children's garden. They have many workshops for children. The list seems to expand each year. I love to watch the vast species of native plants flowering during the different seasons. The walking trails are fun to do with children, as well. The Christmas light display is a must do over the holiday season. The garden is also one of our "go to" places to bring out of town guests.

Fayetteville was once the capital of the State of North Carolina and once welcomed LaFayetteville after The War of Independence. Today it is home to the Air Borne which is housed at Fort Bragg. As part of the downtown renaissance, the U.S. Army Airborne & Special Operations Museum, which is part of the United States Army Museum System, was opened on August 16, 2000, the 60th anniversary of the original Test Platoon's first parachute jump. This is a glorious modern building where one can learn the history and the accomplishments of the 82nd Airborne Division from 1917 to the present. The museum is well worth a visit and is free, but donations are always welcomed. Parking is provided and there is also a gift shop. The museum is opened daily from 10 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. except for Sundays and Mondays and certain Federal Holidays. I have visited the museum a number of times and always find my visit rewarding and have learned different things at each visit. Just across the road from The Airborne Museum is the North Carolina Veterans Park, which is the first park in the state dedicated to military veterans from all branches of the armed services. The Park is open from 8 a.m. to dusk.
