Top 10 Things to do Good for Couples in Corfu, Ionian Islands

December 14, 2021 Enedina Augsburger

Corfu is studded with whitewashed houses, Byzantine churches, and the remains of Venetian fortresses and Greek temples. Wander the ancient streets of the Roman village of Kassiopi or explore the central Esplanade of the eponymous Corfu Town. For a DIY spa experience, lather yourself in mineral mud on the shore of the Canal D’Amour. Legend has it that the waterfalls of Nymphes used to attract the mythological beauties of the same name, who would flock to the village to bathe in the pristine waters.

We moored our boat up here and stayed for two months. A beautiful little island with gorgeous beaches and very few tourists. Some days you could have the beach all to yourself and not see a soul. A couple of little tavernas and amazing views, would highly recommend.

Casa Parlante

"Welcome! Please, come in! The Count will be with you presently. He hopes you will join him and the Countess in the drawing room for tea." This is what you would hear at Casa Parlante, the most alive historical museum in Corfu. A 19th century noble mansion comes to life with stories to tell. In the unique architectural setting of a classical mansion in the historic Old town of Corfu, the everyday life of the island's 19th century nobility is recreated. Through animated figures, using robotic technology, and the perfect reproduction of decor and furnishing, Casa Parlante promises to deliver you a true insight into bygone Corfu. Awakening all your senses, the traditions of the island unfold in front of you, depicting family life in an authentic experience of sights, sounds and smells. Before your eyes the house will come to life... Listen to the children of the family playing music, smell the aromas of the cook's virtuosic cuisine, read the headlines of the Count's newspaper... Casa Parlante is a unique museum: it brings history to life and lets the visitor breathe it in.

Interesting, small, local history museum. Interior in good shape as well as furnitures and objects. Museum uses motorized dummies to animate history. They are not robots, only the head or arm is moving back and forth. The museum tour is always led by the guide. There is possibility to ask questions, which is absolutely nice. This is a little gem of Cofu Town..the price is 5 euro each, and you also receive a glass of rose liqueur and a guided tour of 19th century living...You will enjoy this museum. It's something different from others, it has its uniqueness.

An amazing place and well worth the trip. The last kilometre is a bit of a nightmare so check your brakes work ! It's a nudist beach but plenty of people leave their swimwear on. We didn't and now have beautiful all over tans. You're not seeing a picture though you cheeky readers. There is a lovely lady called Amelia who rents out sunbeds for just 3 euros each and a parasol for another 2 . Very reasonable. She also serves drinks and an ice cold beer or wine is only 2.50. She is a lovely friendly lady and doesn't take advantage of her monopoly but charging a fortune. The water is crystal clear, the sand is soft and we came here 4 times. Make that visited 4 times. ...!!! It's a little corner of heaven. Make sure you leave only footprints and take only photos. Although be careful when pointing your camera ... some people might not want pics of their bits taking! Thank you corfu. Now I'd better put some after sun on my bumcheeks as it was still 27c even in mid October.

This beach is well suited to families in the central area with the usual sunbeds, brollies and showers. The north and south beaches are textile optional and both are sheltered by high cliffs. Access to the south and north beaches is sometime limited by high water levels and wading may be needed in places.

We have recently returned from a weeks stay booked as a Jet2 package hotel. The hotel was a last minute booking as we was due to travel to Spain but was unable to due to the coronavirus pandemic. The hotel is very modern and well spaced out. The food quality was one of the best I have experience at an all inclusive. We stayed on a ground floor room as there are no lifts and we have a 7 month old child. We treated ourselves to a spa treatment which was excellent. The beach is literally right outside the hotel across a small quiet road. Their are also a hand full of tavernas in walking distance. We didn’t walk into the local town but I understand this is a 30 minute walk along the beach. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Paleokastritsa Monastery

Reviewed By srablair - Lytham St Anne's, United Kingdom

Currently free parking at the Aquarium just at the bottom of the hill with a variety of tavernas and cafes. Beautiful cove for swimming, or just enjoying the view and taking photographs. It's a 20 minute walk up to the monastery from here, and although it is possible to drive up further, it's a very narrow road controlled by traffic lights, so unless you have mobility problems I would suggest taking on the walk and enjoy the view as you go! The monastery is lovely, we sat for a few minutes of quiet reflection and took the opportunity to light a candle, (donation invited). There is also a small museum which was fascinating, great collection if liturgical vestments, religious artworks and prayer books, some from the 15th century. Amazing collection with I imagine lots of stories to tell. Well worth a visit. There is also a lovely gift shop selling honey, and religious memorabilia as well as Corfu guide books in English and most other common languages.
