Unfortunately completely closed (even the more clandestine routes you might find online) yet still impressive to see. Route to the monument is best coming from the south (good road), yet route from the west is also very doable with a regular car, despite what other reviews say. This route also gets you past a couple of massive concrete & steel torches.

The Memorial Temple of the Birth of Christ, nown as Shipka Monastery is a Bulgarian Orthodox church built near the town of Shipka between 1885 and 1902 to Antoniy Tomishko's design in the 17-century Muscovite style. It is, together with the other parts of the Shipka Monument, dedicated to the soldiers that died for the liberation of Bulgaria in the Russo-Turkish War, 1877-78.
Rozhdestvo Hristovo Temple is a really very beautiful church! Must see when you are in the region. My pics are from 08th of June 2014.

Damascena is place which contains lots of history. It has so much to see and do there. The restaurant is good too. If you go in May it is soooo beautiful with all these different colors and roses. The only thing that can be improved is a child play area that should be built because it is not very child friendly. But even that still 5 stars
