938 bodies were exhumed at the cemetery and 938 white crosses were erected at the site. These are the victims of the Croatian War of Independence. Very sad display, yet so powerful. In the middle part of the cemetery, located on the east side of Vukovar is a monument where an eternal flame burns.

The Odescalchi Castle is the central building situated in the medieval town of Ilok, housing Museum of the Town of Ilok. The Odescalchi Castle is an impressive building built on the foundations of the castle of King Nikola Ilocki from the 15th century. Nikola's medieval castle with the entire Ilok estate, which at the time occupied the greater part of Srijem, were given by Emperor Leopold to Pope Innocent XI Odescalchi and his family as a reward for their help in liberating Ilok from the Turks. The Pope's nephews, aristocrats from Italy, expanded the castle and changed its style. The castle was eventually rebuilt in the Baroque-Classicist style. They developed at the time very modern wine cellars beneath the castle and gave impetus to the growth of viticulture and wine production. After 1945, the Odescalchi left their Ilok estate, and their descendants remain a part of the Italian nobility, living near Rome.
Enter the beautiful Castle and view multiple floors of ancient local history showcased beautifully. You'll see war memorabilia, ancient weapons and tools, it is very educational and well done.

A tour and wine tasting at this old winery was as fun and entertaining a tour as we had hoped for. The tour began with an explanation of the history of the winery followed by a tour of the old brick lined and curved ceiling wine cellar. We then were seated at large picnic style tables and took part in a wine tasting which included detailed information on the wines. After that we took the opportunity to purchase wines at their store. Highly recommended activity.

This place is so beautiful and so romantic. Place filled with wonderful views. There are swans and other nice birds. The sound of nature warms my heart. U must give it a visit, and do it in every season. In winter it looks magic. There is also a restoraunt, coffee shop and wine bar. Great place to spend weekend in nature ambient on fresh air. If your head is filled with problems and you have overthinking issues, you need a break from everyone and everything, just go there and let the nature do the thing. Enjoy
