A wonderful place to watch the waves crash against the lava shorelines. Go on a windy day to add to the beauty. Lots of people swimming in the pools even in January. Rocks were a little bit slippery. Lots of free parking. There is a tiny market area with fresh baked goods and fresh fruits and veggies. A couple of booths have homemade crafts including things made from lava.

Our cruise ship was diverted to Praia da Vitoria and we really enjoyed this stop. We decided to start by hiking up to Miradouro Do Facho and the views over the town, the harbour and parts of the island were beautiful! The hike up the steep steps took us a while, but we took our time (maybe 30 minutes). Wear comfortable shoes; it makes the hike up those uneven steps so much easier! It was so totally worth it! We decided to hike down the road back into town and the landscape on the other side was breathtaking! Walking through farms with the wonderful views...it was great!

The view of the Island from this viewing platform is amazing. From here you can see several dairy farms and may pastures. it is so green. Hint it was very windy/cool on the platform - wear a light weight jacket or sweater.

Vitoria Old Town has patterned cobbled streets, a good selection of churches and historical buildings, stores, restaurants and a beautiful harbor. If we weren't in love with Portugal before we certainly were now.
