Lucca's array of wonderfully intact historical sites makes it a must-see stop on any Tuscan itinerary. The medieval city walls still stand—you can hike or bike on top of them. Also visit the Duomo di San Martino and the Roman amphitheater.

Wow, Yesterday, 25/10/2020, we had an amazing meeting with the wonderful couple Tze'ela & Mauro, from Cooking in Toscana. Cooking lessons with participants from all over the world, how to make Ribollita soup. A pleasure to go step by step, in cooking preparations, helpful explanations, and see the stimulating end result, too bad it is impossible to pass a dish through the media. Thank you, Tze'ela & Mauro, waiting for the next zoom cooking lesson and hoping to come to Italy and visit your farm for other cooking classes.

I was extremely pleased with Chef Paolo Monti's Cooking School in Lucca. Not only did I get to make several different pastas and sauces, but an incredible dessert. It is totally hands on with the Chef teaching one how to perfect the pastas, the fresh ingredients necessary to make the phenomenal sauces, the attentive assistance of the staff, and the wonderful meal at the end with the Chef, wonderful food (which we made that day) and a great bottle of wine. The classes are small, personal and wonderful. I would highly recommend this Cooking School, the beautiful setting, hotel and Chef to anyone who truly wants to learn the art of true Italian cooking,

My son and I attended this cooking class together. He gave it to me as a birthday gift. The class was an excellent introduction to Italian cuisine. We started with a short tour of shops and a market to pick up ingredients on the way to our host and chef, Giuseppe’s home. Our host, Giuseppe was very warm and welcoming. Once we arrived we started with prosecco, had olive oil and cheese tastings and then assisted with the preparation of a 4 course lunch. He walked us through each recipe explaining each step and offered some cooking tips as well. It was a small group class of 8 people allowing every person an opportunity to assist with the preparation of the meal. Once prepared we sat down for lunch at a beautifully decorated table enjoying our food and a selection of wines. I would highly recommend this class.

We travelled as two couples in July 2018 and We stumbled across this gem by accident after looking for somewhere to eat and drink after a morning in nearby Lucca. What a find! Elena was a fantastic host, giving us 7 wines in total to taste, with a different apperativo with each one. All were fresh, home-made and delicious. Elena gave us loads of information about each one as we sat in her lovely vineyard garden enjoying the sunshine. After lunch she walked us around the vineyard itself explaining the layout and the history of the place and her family, which we loved. A fantastic way to spend an afternoon, a true Tuscan experience. Not commercial or sales-y at all, felt very personal. Thanks Elena!

Centro storico is literally the old town of this Renaissance city: Lucca, in Tuscany Region, in Italy. This old town is surrounded completely by a wall and inside it you can see wonderful buildings like Duomo (Cathedral), the square and the bell tower, from where you can see charming views of the town. Also, you can walk around all old town, see the churches, important buildings or only go to a bar/restaurant and enjoy with food and views. For me, the best place in this wonderdul city is Piazza Anfiteatro, a close square surrounded by buildings and with the form of an amphitheatrt. Inside here, you can eat or drink something (we went to Bollicina Bar, which was very good) and children can play in a place without cars, so it is very good for all people. (See also Le Mura di Lucca, Lucca's Duomo, Piazza Anfiteatro, Piazza Napoleone, Porta Sanpietro and Bollicina)

This tower is easily recognizable: it has a leaning tree growing out of its top.
There are so many lovely things to do in Lucca, and climbing the Guinigi Tower to get a panoramic view of the lovely city you’re in is a great idea, especially early in the day when you are working up your appetite for a delicious Pranzo lunch! Don’t miss it!
