We did a day trip to this lovely town and fell in love with its historic buildings and cute little stores! Definitely check out the view from St. Petri's church! It's worth it!

This is the best of the seven churches in the old centre. It has many interesting art works and details, like the modern stained glass windows with the danse macabre, but especially the architecture is wonderful. Walking through the church is worth the two euros entrance: the play of lines, decoration and light through the windows. There are panels explaining the restoration issues. Outside, there is a barrel with a playful sculpture of a devil and his funny story. Think wine bar.

Lovely beach, easily reachable by train from Hamburg Hbf. The train takes you within a couple of blocks of the beach. Very convenient. Beside a nice beach, lots of "Strandkörbe" and a great place to swim and play in the ocean, there are lots of restaurants, Eiscafés, and lots of tourist type shops to find your perfect souvenir. Lots of fun activities for the kids as well from trampoline to a big wooden ship to climb around in. Meanwhile the adults can watch the big ships come and go in and out of the harbor. Both modern and very old lighthouses complete the excursion.

I spent a few days in Hamburg and wanted to visit somewhere else. My host recommended Lubeck and off I went! It was stunning, I absolutely love it, compare to Hamburg. It is full of culture, little alley ways to walk around and visit the small city. Took about an hour from Hamburg with train. I would highly recommend this place for a day visit!

This is Lubeck. Just take in the beauty of the square. Sit in one of the coffee shops and watch the people. If you come at Christmas it will be fill with the Christmas market.

The cathedral has a very peaceful setting in a green area on the east side of the old town. I found it a beautiful church, the exterior as well as the interior. It is very old, built in the 12th century. The astronomical clock is very special. Sadly it was seriously bombed in WOII and a lot of artworks were destroyed. The restoration took a few decades.
