Despite it got blown up during WW1, it is very well preserved. The fort itself is a experience, with all the rooms with their history shown. Even better with the audio-guide.

December 44 Historical Museum

The December 44 Museum is located in the hearth of the Belgian Ardennes, in the village of La Gleize, where the Battle of the Bulge was fought, on the northern part of the offensive. Surrounded by American airborne, armored and infantry forces, 800 German survivors of the 1st Panzer SS, a "Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler" elite division, lead by Peiper, fled on Christmas Eve leaving behind 135 armoured vehicles including the 69 tonne King Tiger tank, still visible at the museum. The museum accurately recounts these tragic events through one of the most important collection in Europe, most of it collected on the very battlefield where it was fought.

I had long wished to visit the area and I finally did this in December 2019. I'll try not to repeat what has been written before - but essentially, the museum focuses on the German side of the Battle of Bulge and a lot of the artefacts and uniforms were found in the immediate area of La Gleize - which is as far as Peiper and his tanks got. Dioramas with mannequins display a variety of original SS, Heer, Fallschirmjäger and Luftwaffe uniforms. There are certainly US exhibits - both in display cases and with dioramas, but the focus is on the German aspect of the campaign. I'm a militaria collector as well as a WW2 tour guide and I have to say, this is an impressive display. Did a mention there is a Königstiger out the front? :-) I got here late in the day so it was not so busy. Staff were friendly and approachable.

Malmedy Massacre Memorial

An impressive and interesting museum about the massacre that took place here in 1944. A large collection of articles from both the German and Allied troops. Accompanied by some very personal accounts to make it all come more to live and told via a personal audio tour. I never realised how intense and gruelling the battle of Bastogne had been. I highly recommend this museum. Although the kids thought it a little too detailed and long winded (audio tour)

This is a site ( massacre of US Army POWs at the Crossroads nearby ) of historical importance to show how the situation can have a decisive impact on individual soldiers. Visiting the memorial site and the museum is a must see for every interested person in the Battle of the Ardennes. Fantastic collection of historical correct uniforms and equipment and very wel displayed. The audio system works splendid and is even overwhelming in its information in so far it can become to much. The uniformed mannequins, the equipment, armory, information, rewards, badges,.... highly informative. A MUST SEE!!! Friendly staff, top location, up to date and a small cafetaria in annexe. Don't forget to visit also LA GLAIZE museum with the kings tiger tank ( Königstiger Panzer ). Remember the hardship these men went through in the frostbite of the winter 1944 into 1945. So many got maimed, prisoner of war or lost their live. Respect

The climb towards the ruins is pretty high over a cobblestone path. But when you're there it's so worth it. You can walk around, thru and over the ruins. They wil give you a paper with information.. al over the ruins are numbers that correspondent to a number on the paper, where you can find info about that part. Al the way in the front is a little museum, with a lot of stuff that they found in the well of the castle. Overal, its a pretty climb to get up there.. But so worth it

A really nice series of easy to ride old railway tracks in the picturesque Ardennes. These take you through the historic villages such as Stavelot and Francorchamps and of course right above the amazing Spa Grand Prix Circuit. Well worth taking your bike for an explore along these old routes. Spa town is great, do visit the 'thermes' at the top of the hill in Spa, a great way to relax.
