Marche (Italian pronunciation: [ˈmarke]), or the Marches /ˈmɑːrtʃɪz/, is one of the twenty regions of Italy. The name of the region derives from the plural name of marca, originally referring to the medieval March of Ancona and nearby marches of Camerino and Fermo. I visited these caves 12 years ago and were awestruck but could not share because no photos were allowed to be taken. We visited again in October 2019 and now you may take photos from the second hall onwards without flash. If you are in the area, do not miss it. You can buy tickets online but most tours on the hour are in Italian, Also you need to be at the meeting point half an hour before your tour commences because a shuttle bus takes you from the parking area to the entrance which is about 3 km back. English tours usually forty minutes later i.e. 11:40 but you, need to confirm at the ticket office. You have to go with a guided tour. About 1 km of walkways with some steps.
