Me and a group of friends visited this awesome place on March 27. We all started from Chennai on March 26 and reached Coimbatore at 8:30 am on march 27. Had breakfast at aaryas opposite to railway station and got a bus to isha yoga. It took 1 hour to reach isha yoga. We spent 2 hours there visiting dhyana linga and adhiyogi. The place is stunning and facilities were amazing. We had out lunch there and left to poondi in the afternoon. It was a short trip by share auto. Poondi is the location of velliangiri temple and starting place for the trek. Since we were planning for a night trek, we rested there in the afternoon, took bath in the public bathroom there and had anna dhanam food from the temple in the evening. Since March 27 was an auspicious day due to full moon and "panguni uthiram", there were huge crowds in the temple and for the trek as well. We started the trek at 7 pm. The forest department does extensive search of bags to throw out any plastic stuff. They even threw out my friends toothbrush. Make sure all is put in paper bags or food items rolled in newspapers. There are totally 7 hills about 1km each. Hills 1,2,3 have a lot of steps and are difficult. You can actually wear shoes here to make the climb easier. Hills 4, 5 and 6 are marginally easier as there are some flat lands through which you travel. Hill 6 has a pond where a lot of people take bath. Hill 7 is the most difficult of them all where the mountain is very steep. One needs good company and will power to climb it. But once you are done, you will feel good about yourself. So, please don't lose motivation and climb down. Ensure that you finish all 7 mountains. Some tips: Me and my friend had done a lot of YouTube research on the mountain and practiced 7-8 km walks daily near our home. it is recommended that one does these things to keep the climb easier. It is also advised to travel light.carry one bedsheet, one light jacket and 2 litres of water along with some fruits like apple and orange. Since this was during season, there were a lot of shops in the mountain where you could get biscuits, lime soda, butter milk, water melon and other stuff. If you run out of water, there are places near 2nd and 6th hill where you can fill them. Most of the shops will fill your water bottles for 30 rs per bottle as well. If you plan to trek at night, carry a torch as well. You should also get a stick for climbing when you are at the mountain base.

Loam’s view point is located at Valparai-Pollachi route at 9th Hair pin bend, there are total of 40 sharp hair pin bends on this route, these bends are the best place to see Nilgiri Tahr at its natural habitat, and you will have a breathtaking view of Aliyar dam and it’s Reservoir.

Once you reach the place need to walk about 10 to 15 minutes inside the forest but worth a trek. Waterfall is nice and cold. Lot of monkeys are there and can see symptoms of elephants presence inside the forest. Really worth a visit in the city

360 Degrees had the lush of green view and fresh air filled around you .. There are about 40 hairpin bends from the Base of Aliyar to Valparai . We stayed at 28th Hairpin bend ... So drove the next two days up the hill to valparai - Advise is if you are driving for the 1st time in this ghat's - better to reach your destination before 7pm . We had a very bad Foggy night and could see nothing infront of us (Hat's OFF to APPU, for driving us safe down to the estate bungalow) On the way down :) we saw a big big Bison welcoming us ... One of our frnd in Valparai said - They see Lepords very commonly roaming within the city limits just as we see cat's ...... Its a very good place for bird watching - but for that you need to have a guide or a person who knows the place.

This place is called the chirapunji of south India, but there was no rain when we visited. There is an entry fee of 130 per head at the check post and the road to the falls about 3-4 kms away is very bad and can be driven very slowly, so be very careful to drive. There is a bus service till Chinnakalar falls. From the parking lot, one has to walk about 600 meters to reach the falls in the forest area. The leech menace is only in rainy season. You will be accompanied by a Guide as It is frequented with elephants. and the view of the small waterfall is superb.Bathing is not allowed as it is a forest area . The view from the hanging bridge is superb. Can spend 15-20 over here.Recommended.
