We toured Chablis with Franck - he’s an amazing guide. Many of the wineries were closed because it was a Sunday, but he was able to arrange a full afternoon of tastings - he’s so trusted that wineries give him the keys to their tasting rooms so you get a private tasting even when closed! We tasted 10+ wines at 3 different wineries that were each very unique and provided a great overview to the wine of Chablis. Franck was able to get us from our hotel and drop us off again after - super convenient and a highlight of our trip.

Only saw the sign by chance and the visit turned out to be one of the highlights of our holiday. When we approached the door was locked and we thought the place might not be open, fortunately someone soon arrived to let us in. People are shown round in very small groups. There are so many exhibits that there isn't room for more than a few people at a time. Although its' title is Costume Museum it is much more than that. The building itself is a great surprise and as well as the costumes it is full of interesting pictures, furniture and ornaments. We were shown round by one of the sisters who own the collection and she answered all of our questions and went out her way to make the visit enjoyable and very interesting. An absolutely wonderful place!

Basilique de Vezelay

The Basilica and the relics of St. Mary Magdalene have made and continue to make of Vezelay a major spiritual destination. Vezelay has for centuries captured the imagination of people. Not only is the Basilica Church of St. Mary Magdalene a beacon for Christianity, it is also a place of major importance in history and in art history. It has as such recently been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list. Vezelay was originally a monastic church, which it is now again while remaining a pilgrimage place. It has also been a parish church for some two centuries. The Basilica is a highly praised spiritual and tourist destination for all alike: believers, pilgrims or visitors.

Visited the Cathedral in October 2019 whilst on a tour of the area. Auxerre is a very historic town and well worth stopping in and walking around. The Cathedral is situated high above the river and dominates the skyline. The detailed masonary is worth looking at as is the Crypt.

Cathedrale St-Etienne

Regarded as the first of the great Gothic cathedrals, its construction began in 1130. At the same period, catholic buildings were still designed according to Norman architecture. The architect of Sens applied a revolutionary design for the vaulting: the ribbed vault. Then, the Saint-Stephen's Cathedral has known successive developments ("flamboyant" Gothic transept for instance) but has kept a beautiful unit. Our tips: don't miss the unique and popular lightshow "Lumieres de Sens" from mid-June to mid-September! This is an amazing introduction to a detailed visit of the st Gothic Cathedral. Opened everyday of the year from 8.00 am to 6.00 pm. Guiding tours (during the summer) and outlets available at the Tourist Office.

Excellent tasting experience We booked a tasting here on our last day in Burgundy and were overwhelmed by the generosity. Our host explained each wine, mapped out the parcel locations and soil and sun variables and offered tasting commentary as well. We ended up sampling about a dozen wines, including five Grand Cru wines. By far the best value for tastings in all of Burgundy.
