A day on foot is ample time to see Victoria, one of the smallest capitals in the world. Located on Mahe, one of the Seychelles' 115 granite and coral islands, Victoria is the republic's business and cultural hub. At its center sits the Victoria Clocktower, a national monument reminiscent of London's "Big Ben" that has kept ticking since 1903, unaffected by the modern glass and concrete development around it. Visit the local art galleries and craft markets to soak up the city's friendly charm.

Visited the Seychelles National Museum on a resent trip to Seychelles. We walked into the museum not expecting much, but was surprised by the modern interactive displays in a clean and well organized building. A very complete collection of the Islands history from pirates, early colonization, local creole customs to the development of a modern eco-friendly society. A little gem that should be included on any visit to the Seychelles.

This is worth a visit at anytime during the day though the spectacle is better in the morning, and Saturday morning is when you can see the most stalls. The produce on sale is fish, fruits, vegetables, spices, some crafts, local honey and preserves. You can go to look and take pictures or buy some fruit to go along with during the day. It takes at most an hour to see everything. If you want to take local products home be a bit picky and ask who made them and where, they all have a story. Probably the best pictures you will get will be the fish and octopus.

It is a temple for the Hindu religion. It is a spiritual place and the most beautiful place in Seychelles. It is open to all and if you happen to be during the month of January you will get to see some of the prayers, sacrifice and rituals done during thaipoosam a festival for the Lord murugan. Also there are many other festivals celebrated in the temple . You can add this place to your checklist of places to visit! So come relax and enjoy the peaceful place!

This is one of the largest church complexes in Victoria. It has been around since 1936 and has been well kept and refurbished over the years. The interior is quite nice with many stained glass windows alternating between old style and modern art. At the rear of the building is a beautiful single person spiral staircase to access to loft (closed to the public). BOTTOM LINE: Very much loved seeing this historical cathedral and its grounds. Lots of natural light everywhere. Very well maintained and a nice break from the hustle and bustle of the city. RECOMMEND SITE to visit when exploring Victoria. MY RATING: 9/10.

I was staying in a budgetary self catering place and this place was godsend! I visited on a Friday and this place was busy with locals. The prices are good and the various smells of fish, ripe fruits and produce was invigorating.I highly recommend a visit here and also note that the first floor has the souvenirs which you will not get at the airport. Very good!

We used this on Mahe several times and once on Praslin to get to the Vallee de Mai. Great service, gerat price 7 rupees and a wonderful local experience. You can use this to avoid renting a car for your time there. We walked, used the bus and rented a car for a few days. Use the bus, great value!
