Connoisseur Ales is St Helens' newest brewery, built on many years brewing experience. At Connoisseur Ales Brewery we have been working hard to craft and introduce our new range of real ales. Join us for one of our open days held on the first Saturday of every month Noon-10pm? The team behind the brewery - Mark, Gillian and Kevin Yates - are formerly of Liverpool's 'Pub of Excellence' The Baltic Fleet and Cheshire's former 'Pub of the Year & 'Cider Pub of the Year', The Albion in Warrington. Brewer Mark was apprentice to Stan Shaw of Wapping Brewery. The brewery has, since its inception, proved popular with many local pubs in St Helens and around the North-West and has received good feedback from local and national beer festivals. Bottling commenced late in 2014 and bottle-conditioned ales are available direct from the brewery. The brewery also stocks a wide range of fruit wines and mead.

We did not have high expectations of this visit but, wow, what a surprise. The welcome started at reception and we were shown how to get round the museum to all the exhibits and special exhibitions. The local history section was so well presented and a total surprise. Very interesting industrial archaeology The cafe was so refreshing with 'home-made' food quality. A great day out for all ages. There are a couple of things the management need to consider - the web site does not do the experience justice and there is no mention of accessibility for wheelchairs etc - it is fully accessible but they don't say so! The entrances into the kiln lack signage.

A cracking little music venue, now only happy memories of great nights listening to rock music. A real shame, another nail into the heart of St Helen's.

I was in here last night (Saturday 8th August) with 6 other people for drinks and to watch sport on one of the many many many TVs. The staff are always friendly and quick to serve you. I have been many times before and found the staff to be nothing but attentive friendly and just nice people. The food is tasty and very good value for money. Social distancing is well maintained, as is track and trace, which is key these days. They are always cleaning and wiping down tables so that you generally feel safe there. It is an all round good place to spend your time.

The main catholic church of St Helens, the chimes from the bell towe can be heard all over St Helens, this is beatiful architecher and no wonder it has been made a grade two listed building. Thought to be the oldest church in St Helens (but it is'nt) The oldest catholic church in St Helens is in the cemetery which dates back to the 15th century ( on the right as you enter from Cowley hill lane.

Just had a fab night out with the family (2* boys - ages 10 & 6 and hubby) at our annual family Christmas pantomime at the theatre royal in St. Helens. This year it was Aladdin, and like previous years it was brilliant!! There was the jokes for the boys to understand, plus the near the knuckle jokes for mums and dads (which thankfully went over the boys heads) - it was pure family entertainment. What is also good here are the reasonable prices for soft drinks (£5 for 2 * cokes and 2 * fruit shoots) - I have paid this for 2 * fruit shoots at other venues. The ticket prices are reasonable too, and whilst they may not get the ‘big names’ as cities may have, the cast are superb - with a mega widow twanky and wishy washy. If you want fantastic, reasonably priced family entertainment I can’t recommend here enough - you’d be mad to miss it. Will defo be here again next year!!!!
