St. George's Historical Society Museum

Life in colonial Bermuda: museum collection includes a letter from George Washington and an 18th century kitchen, and is housed in a building built in 1700.

Reviewed By docwcstuart - Bethlehem, United States

Was in St. George late in the season and not much was happening. Found this house museum and it made the trip. One of the oldest houses in Bermuda, stuffed with both historic artifacts and more recent memorabilia (lots about QEII's trip to Bermuda in the 1950s). The guide was a native and went over and above to describe the house, how it was built, what life was like in old Bermuda, etc. Well worth the $5 admission.

I usually do not write reviews but my experience at Davidrose was excellent and I just had to show this business some love! We visited the St.Georges location first, it is a short walk from the ferry(5mins) we were greeted by very helpful sales associate. The view in the St. George store is breathtaking! They also have a wall of awards from 2013 to 2018 which made me feel confident in the brand. We tried almost all of the Ocean collection pieces, the craftsmanship is excellent and are very well made and the Colour of the ocean is captured perfectly. I wanted the whole collection! My group was starting to get impatient so I decided to visit the Hamilton Store the next day. The Hamilton location is on the main shopping street called Front Street also a very short walk from the Ferry. This location did not have the same view but it was very classy and modern, the two sales associates were very helpful and knowledgeable. The store was very busy but they took the time to help me decide on the piece for me! I found the Hamilton location to have a wider selection of their fine jewelry the Naudical collection is stunning and also their Gem Stone jewelry was WOW it is in 18k so be prepared to spend a bit more than the 14k. I went into this store for the Ocean Collection and ended up purchasing the Seahorse in 18k White Gold with Sapphires and Diamonds. I will be back next year!

I visited Kelli this week in her lovely shop. It was my 3rd time there and it won't be my last. Kelli's designs are truly beautiful and original. She was a nice range or prices so you're sure to find something you like. My daughter just bought a gorgeous necklace of black south sea pearls. We felt it was a little short for her so Kelli lengthened it while we waited. Last time I was there I got a gorgeous turquoise necklace that gets me many compliments whenever I wear it. Kelli is lovely and if you're really lucky you'll get to meet her Mom, Rose. Trust me, you'll get a real Bermuda welcome.

Today I visited the Dragon's Lair Gallery in St. George for the first time. Wow! Very impressed with the carefully selected variety of artwork and local crafts. Tucked away on the waterfront, the gallery is in a light and airy setting with the friendliest of staff. I'm a local and very proud of our artisans who've created this truly magical little gallery..

Our wonderful guide was knowledgeable, informative, engaging and proved us with one of the highlights of our Bermuda vacation. I am so grateful that she donates her time to this Bermuda treasure. Don't miss it.
