Whether you are looking for sun-drenched beaches or outdoor activities in beautiful countryside, New Jersey has plenty to offer. Those who love the great outdoors should head for the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, which runs along the Delaware River for forty miles. Here you can go rock climbing, canoeing, kayaking or fishing, or simply admire the stunning waterfalls. There is a huge range of hiking trails to choose from as well as historic sites to visit. In winter, you can enjoy cross-country skiing near Blue Mountain Lakes, and birdwatchers might be lucky enough to catch sight of bald eagles. If you are looking for a change, visit one of New Jersey's eleven lighthouses that are open to public, such as the one in Cape May. The Princeton University Art Museum is one of the nation's finest art museums, housing collections of over 72 ,000 works of art spanning 5,000 years of world history and all the world's major cultures. The Museum also presents special exhibitions and educational programs throughout the year. Admission is free.
Allow time during your visit in Princeton to spend time at the Uni Art Museum. There's a superb permanent collection that spans centuries across the globe, and there's always the added attraction of a special exhibit. Everything is perfectly curated (as one would expect), and the museum itself, though large, will invigorate rather than tire you. Highlights include a fabulous window by Burne-Jones.

My wife and I dropped in here recently and had a great time. We got there around 5:30 on a Saturday and the place was very lively but we had no problem getting a seat at a table. You order at the counter and they offer pints and sampler sizes. You can order four samplers to create a flight. Pints were from $5 to $7 with a wide variety to chose from (see picture). Most samplers were $3 so a typical flight would come in at $12. This is a fair price. We each got pints, my wife the Spot Check and I the Green Room IPA. Both were excellent. I also noticed lots of people brought food with them, particularly pizza or some other kind of takeout. This is encouraged and a great idea. I think the next time we go here - and there will definitely be a next time - we will have to get a pizza from the place across the street (I’ve heard good things about it) and a couple of flights. Overall this is a fun place to go: Great atmosphere and great craft beer yet a solid value.

The Newark Museum, New Jersey's largest museum, invites you to enjoy unforgettable experiences in the arts and natural sciences. Take an inspirational journey through 80 galleries of world-class collections, travel to the stars in our popular Planetarium, and stroll through our beautiful sculpture garden.
At the center of the historic & once grand Newark downtown the first class museum with striking exhibit space offers insights into both the old & resurgent city. Adjacent to the elegant Ballantine mansion, overflowing with silver & handsome furnishings, the eclectic collection contains masterpieces from the 19th century & Hudson River School, Corning & Steuben glass, jewelry & modern crafts as well. Although we ran out of time, on our next visit - with discounts for seniors - we look forward to exploring the 20th century art.

We have a 2 year old and a 4 year old and they both find so many things to do here! A favorite is the boat with a dock and ramp. Another is the dinoland space. But the museum is updating several exhibits in fun new ways. The LEGO car ramp is one new addition.

Whether you love American history, technology, art/design, or just seeing fascinating STUFF, you'll love walking around the Edison laboratory. From the cubbyholes stuffed with papers in his rolltop desk in the gorgeous library, to the mind-boggling machinery, to the music room with a working cylinder-playing phonograph, you get a sense of this driven personality who created modern America. One of the best historical sites.
