The Monastery was built within a natural cave, which was later expanded thus creating the form of a church with auxiliary chapels. The interior of the Monastery is adorned with frescos painted by monk Simeon Popovic.

We walked to this Monastery and really enjoyed the history it represented and the care that has been given to it to keep it looking pristine. The entire region of Boka Bay is full of Monasteries high up in their hills and not easy to get to but Savina Monastery is easily accessible on foot. We recommend that you walk up the staircase on the right of the Monastery because about half way up you will find a clearing which gives you a fantastic aerial view of the Monastery and the western part of Boka Bay

This is an astonishing building, given that it was built as recently as the 1990s. From a distance it could easily be hundreds of years old. As you enter be prepared to have your breath taken away. It has an interior unlike anything I have seen before - quite beautiful. If visiting the city, don't pass up the chance to see this landmark.
