Champagne DOMI

Reviewed By helen1kuroki - West Chester, United States

My daughter and I went on a one day champagne tour excursion from Paris. Just 8 people were in the group, all English speakers. We had a French tour guide who did a wonderful job translating from French to English as we were shown the property and guided through the process of champagne making by the owner Stephane. We had a wonderful time in his tasting room as well. A kind and unassuming gentleman, this champagne master was a wonderful host. As others have mentioned, he does not currently ship outside of France but we were able to purchase a few bottles there. The trip was a delight and a real highlight of our two weeks in France.

A lovely little spot for quite a nice champagne. We tasted and then purchased a 2015 vintage blanc de noirs. It felt like being in someone’s house. It was slightly awkward being just two of us for the tasting but of course a little champagne relieves the tension. In nicer weather it would be fun to sit outside.

Champagne Julien Chopin

Our house is located in the village of Monthelon, 6 kms from Epernay, the capital of Champagne in the « Coteaux Sud d’Epernay ». Monthelon is a typical Champagne village, nestled in the heart of the vineyard. The family has cultivated our vineyards at Monthelon since the XVIII century, but it was only in 1947 that the brand name Julien Chopin was born (or created). Our vineyards are located in the “Coteaux Sud d’Epernay” where Pinot Meunier is the main “cru” (villages of Monthelon, Mancy and Moussy) and in the “Cotes des Blancs” for Chardon-nay (villages of Chouilly, Cuis and Grauves).

My wife and I went to Boizel for a guide tour and Leire was very pleasant, honest and lazyless explaining everything, starting from the family history, the beginning an so far. In Brasil we do not have this champagne. We tried 3 the classic, the rose and vintage. All very good. We bought some. Thank you very much for the outstanding tour.

As we walked Avenue de Champagne we first ran in to Moet Chandon & reserved an afternoon tour & tasting. We then continued on looking at all of the houses & trying to determine where we may want to stop for a tasting. As we made our way to nearly the end of the Avenue we spotted Elodie D. We saw several patrons sitting in a lovely (not to formal) garden. We went in to check it out & like everyone else's comments we were delighted by stories of this champagne house & it's history of being in one family for generations & for the last 4 generations has been run by the women in the family. Fabrice (the husband/co-owner) was friendly & informative of the region & of their vineyards & wine growing production. He told us about each of their most popular vintages so we settled in with a delicious charcuterie tray & a few glasses of champagne. We spent a lovely 2 hours sipping, eating & chatting with Fabrice. We LOVED their champagne & their hospitality. Highly recommended so keep walking down the avenue until you find it. Worth the walk.

An outstanding experience! We booked online, and arrived for a 10AM tour and tasting. The tour was conducted wonderfully by a knowledgeable guide, and the cellars are quite beautiful. The tasting was superb, with very generous pours of some fascinating and delicious wines. Their wines are truly unique among producers because of the oak barrel ageing, and well worth visiting for the superb value. We were also very appreciative that our dog (carried in a small backpack) was welcomed through the entire tour and tasting. A lovely experience, and we will certainly be back to stock up every time we are nearby!!

This is a stunning cathedral! It’s amazing, intricate, beautiful and awe inspiring from the outside and dramatic and breath taking from the inside. It’s sheer size and height is amazing and I’ve never seen such a wonderful set of stain glass windows ranging from the very old to ultra modern contemporary. It has a fascinating history and of course don’t miss the statue if the smiling angel. Now one of my favourite Cathedrals! .... and returning after dark (in summer) you can be treated to a superb light show projected onto front of Cathedral ... fantastic! Well done Reims.
