Museum of the Goldfields showcases the rich Aboriginal culture and glittering history of the Eastern goldfields. Discover how the gold rush transformed the region into an economic powerhouse and learn about the unique role the town has played in WA's development. Explore the largest display of gold bars and nuggets in the state, step back in time to see how prospectors searched for this precious metal, and learn about the life and hardships faced by mining families during the early 1900's We are closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New years Day, Good Friday and morning of ANZAC Day.
We enjoyed this museum very much as it contained the entries in the Nature photographer of the year. These were amazing. It also contains a lot of the history of gold mining in the area. You are able to take a lift to a viewing platform, which looks across the Superpit and town. It also has a vault you can enter where millions of dollars worth of gold is housed. The original British Arms Hotel is also on site and has some rooms decked out in keeping with that era. An optional donation is requested

The Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) of Western Australia is sorry to advise that the Visitor Centre at our Kalgoorlie base will remain closed for the foreseeable future.
Cathy who runs the RFDS visitor centre is excellent and gave a brilliant tour of the facility. I appreciated the opportunity to see inside a PC12 and check out the heritage hangar. Thank you ????

We really lucked in the day we visited the Visitor Centre as we were there at the right time to get on a tour of the Town Hall , which is were the Centre is located. Our guide was very knowledgeable and very easy to hear and understand, which is not something you always get on tours, making this tour really enjoyable.

Visited the Boulder Town Hall to visit the War Museum and was blown away by the history and content of the museum. The staff there were very helpful and assisted us in tracking down our family that was featured in the museum, they even gave us copies of all the information that had on hand. Well worth a visit if you are visiting Kalgoorlie/Boulder.

Broad Arrow is a ghost town that clings to life. The Broad Arrow Tavern, the only remaining pub in town, dates from 1896. The town once had a population of 2,400, now only the pub remains. Those who remember the Nickel Boom of the early 1970s may recall the Nickel Queen, a low-budget film starring Australian diva Googie Withers and Sydney radio personality John Laws, in which the pub featured. The pub serves hot Broady Burgers and cold beer. Broad Arrow is 38 km (24 miles) north of Kalgoorlie and 633 km (394 miles) east of the State capital, Perth. By the way, a broad arrow was stamped on the backs of convicts and other government property. It's hard to go past the Broad Arrow. pub without stopping in for a beer.

Make sure you book this tour as it was full the day we went! Madame Carmel is a born story teller, we thoroughly enjoyed our time with her. Her knowledge and recollections of her time in Kalgoorlie are both priceless and very entertaining. The tour is very good value for money and definitely a unique experience!

We are the Loopline Railway Museum and Information Centre. We have historic mining and rail displays of various items from the early days in the Goldfields. Our displays have been kindly donated by local community members or are on loan from the Eastern Goldfields Historical Society. Come down and visit us at our Boulder City Station, which once was part of one of the busiest railway networks in Australia, explore through our Museum and enjoy our collection. Sit back and enjoy a relaxing massage in our massage chair while you watch our videos playing in our media room. Take photos with the Darlek on display which is on loan to us by a local artist. Visit our old miners huts that are currently surrounded by beautiful flowers. Finish your Loopline experience with some souvenirs from our gift shop, and why not make it memorable with some rail art. Our rail art is made by our volunteers using Loopline dog spikes that are over 100 years old and rail clips.
