Dundalk (/dʌnˈdɔːk/, Irish: Dún Dealgan, meaning "Dalgan's fort") is the county town of County Louth, Ireland. It is on the Castletown River, which flows into Dundalk Bay, and is near the border with Northern Ireland, halfway between Dublin and Belfast. It has associations with the mythical warrior hero Cú Chulainn.

Brilliant family night out. Went for the Restaurant package and food was excellent. Our youngest had the children’s portion from the main menu and had a lovely little steak very impressed. The staff were very friendly and attentive especially Ciara. Service was excellent. Couldn’t fault it at all was a brilliant night.

I have passed this place countless times but never went in. After deciding to visit I was surprised at how much is here, both for adults and for kids. The staff were very friendly and advised us to take the elevator to Floor 3 (the fourth floor for those who count from the ground floor) and work our way down, The current exhibition on the top floor is of a famous son of Dundalk, Peter Rice, an engineer who has been involved in the building of many iconic structures across the globe, including the Sydney Opera House. The next floor explains a lot of pre-history from Louth, with much of the information being completely new to me. In particular, it's a bit disappointing to realise the destruction of ancienf monuments that happened in the 1800's, for which wie only have drawings from the mid-1700's. THe next floor has more recent history, including Cromwellian artefacts and the history of that period in Louth. The ground floor has 20th century exhibits from the region. This is a really thorough historical overview of Louth. It even has a Heinkel Bubble Car - I never realised that the GNR factory in Dundalk acquired the rights to this car from the original German factory. All in all, a fascinating place, well worth the visit.
