A small museum with a fine collection of Renaissance paintings: a must-see for the avid art lover.
This museum allegedly has the largest collection of Art outside the Louvre and is well worth a visit. It was on our "to do" list before we went. One reviewer stated it was a good place to while away an hour.We spent two and a half hours there and could have stayed longer. There was an additional exhibition of items from the Bonaparte family which was a nice suprise. Signs indicated " No photography" but luckily managed to get a book on Musee Fresch off good old ebay. Highly recommend.

Here Corsicans say that Napoleon's mother, Laetitia , had the first signs of suffering in that beautiful Cathedral before giving birth to her famous-to-be son. At some weddings, today, you can hear Corsican polyphonia( Corsican songs "a cappella"( voices only)..it's absolutely thrilling ! amazing!

Large but not very large house. Tons of exhibits to describe Napolean's life history and the history and provenance of this house. Good audio guide though it wasnt available in the morning and we had to come back after 2 pm to access it. This matter can be rectified. Wonderful bookshop extensively covering the history of Napolean and associated events. Located right in the center of Ajjacio which anyway is a walkable town

If you are like ferries as much as we do, this is an amazing trip. My 9 and 10 year olds danced with all the other kids on board until way after bedtime. We slept in sleeping bags under the stars, and stood on deck watching Carthage come into view 23 hours later. I’m quite sure we were the only Americans on board, and definitely sure we were the only ones sleeping on the deck. Everyone was friendly. The check in for this CTN ferry is at the Algeria/Tunisia International terminal, across from the new cathedral. Then a long fascinating trip on the bus to the boat past all the loading ships. Twenty three hours on the Mediterranean!

Lovely neoclassical church we visited during our visit to Ajaccio. This is a really cute small church which is also historically symbolic for being where Napoleon was baptized.
