The Martin House (Buffalo, NY, 1903-05) exemplifies Frank Lloyd Wright’s Prairie House ideal and ranks as one of his finest residential works. Designed for Larkin Soap Company executive, Darwin D. Martin, the multi-residential estate is a one-of-a-kind composition consisting of the main Martin House, the smaller Barton House, a carriage house with chauffeur’s quarters and stables, a glass-roofed conservatory linked to the main house by a 100-foot pergola, and a gardener’s cottage. Tours explore the restored and reconstructed buildings, surrounding landscape, and an extensive collection of art glass and furnishings, all designed by Wright, which together form a totally integrated architectural masterwork. We welcome you to this National Historic Landmark.
Went to the Darwin D Marting House and the summer home and I really enjoyed the tour. The guide was very good and didn't mind all of my questions, If you like architecture or how the wealthy lived, this is a must see.

The Kavinoky Theatre opened in the 1980-81 season, but the idea for it was born a decade earlier during a production of "The Importance of Being Earnest" on the original, unrestored theatre stage. Under the artistic direction of David Lamb, the idea was two-fold: 1. To form a local company of paid professional actors to produce a subscription season of plays and to work as an ensemble along the lines of traditional repertory company. 2. To raise money through the auspices of D'Youville College to restore the small Edwardian gem of a theatre to serve as a home for the company. The 1970's were spent producing in the Porter-View Room under the company name of Stage Centre. At that time we were the only locally producing professional theatre company in Buffalo since Studio Arena cast from New York. By 1979 we had a healthy balance in the bank of $11,000 and the D'Youville Capital Campaign to restore the theatre under the leadership of Edward Kavinoky was completed. Restoration and refurbishing work was completed in time for the 1980-81 Season, the theatre was renamed The Kavinoky. Our first production was Sleuth, featuring Brian LaTulip and David Lamb and was successful enough to sell out and double our production fund (at $3 per ticket!!). The Kavinoky Company has produced over 160 shows in the last 35 years and has earned a reputation for consistently high-quality productions, a solid subscriber base of 2,500 and has received more awards than any other theatre in Buffalo. During the past 35 years, The Kavinoky has had a seminal influence on the growth of live theatre in Buffalo. Most of the leading area actors had their start at The Kavinoky, as did many of the Artistic Directors. When we began we were alone; there are now over thirty producing organizations in town! We are justifiably proud of this record. There are now more patrons attending live theatre than ever before in the city's history, but there are also many more options. This is why we need a new and strong board to help us continue our vision and maintain the company concept that has led to past successes.

We make Spirits the old-fashioned way. Stop by and grab a cocktail and take a tour of the distillery. Retail bottles available to take home with you.
We are talking about my favorite distillery here. It's been more then a year since I was last here, and it was worth the wait. Last time we went at night when it was crowded, yet I still had a blast. This time we chose to go during the afternoon. The two girls working we're nothing short of amazing. I highly recommend trying the Krupnick liquor. Since they introduced this Polish favorite, it has flown off their shelves. The vibe in the tasting room is a rustic farm look, which I totally dig. We we're even given a behind the scenes tour to see where the magic happens. With all this and more, I highly recommend this awesome place, and it's even more awesome crew.

there's a lot going on in the old ward. Now we have the flag ship originators in the Barrel Factory which is being joined by other enterprises. Bur don't forget the trailblazers. I was blown away on other trips by this venue and they keep producing - adding a great brewery (Pressure Drop), Kombucha and Winery/Cidery. But the original distillery has been awarded medals for the whiskeys and who wouldn't doubt that award.

Went to see a concert in the theater, it is absolutely stunning inside, it feels like in the Phantom of Opera times, beautifully restored, now with Christmas decoration, just breathtaking, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful, by the Christmas tree a lady from staff would take pictures of the guests who wanted picture with the tree.

The museum is temporarily closed due to coronavirus as of March 16, 2020. Please check our web site, pierce-arrow.com for updates. This unique museum focuses on Buffalo's transportation history featuring Pierce Arrow, Thomas Flyer, electric vehicles, vintage bicycles, motorcycles, muscle cars and trucks, many made in Western New York. A special feature is the full scale Buffalo Filling Station by Frank Lloyd Wright, designed for Buffalo in 1927 but never built. Rights to build it were secured and the impressive structure with expansive copper roof and detailing is housed in the atrium of the museum. Guided tours can be arranged by appointment @ $25 per person with a minimum of 30 people required.
We've lived in Western New York for many years but it wasn't until recently that we became aware of the Pierce Arrow Museum in downtown Buffalo. Our son is an avid fan of classic cars and I enjoy transportation artifacts (motorcycles, bicycles, antique gas pumps) that are commonly seen on the American Pickers television show. We were looking for something to do on a Sunday afternoon and decided to check out the museum. The museum is conveniently located off of the I-190 expressway in downtown Buffalo, and offers free parking on site. Admission was reasonable for a family of 3. We spent about 2 1/2 hours touring the entire museum. While admiring a 1960's Mercury Cougar, a museum docent by the name of Debra approached us and began telling us the history of that particular vehicle. She then proceeded to guide us from car to car, giving us detailed information about the history of each. She also explained the origin of the Frank Lloyd Wright gas station that was built inside the giant atrium from the original blueprints. For the next hour she walked us around the museum, giving us a personal tour of many of the major exhibits. We left having learned so much about the history of automobile manufacturing that once took place in Buffalo, as well as many of the unique automobiles, motorcycles, bicycles and transportation artifacts on display. The museum was the perfect size for what we wanted to see on a Sunday afternoon.

Theodore Roosevelt was inaugurated as President of the United States in 1901 in Buffalo, NY, after the assassination of President William McKinley. Exhibits focus on the assassination and inauguration, details of Roosevelt's life and consequential issues of the day no less important to citizens more than a century later. Visitors can also tour nearby historic neighborhoods.
This was a great place to learn more about Theodore Roosevelt. Learn how he became the president and what challenges did he have. See where he was sworn in as president. Right now you can take a tour with your family up to 6 people. Make sure call and make a reservation ad you need to at this time.

Key Bank....(in the past - HSBC Arena) is a great place for Ice Hockey. Loved the atmosphere. I believe there are only 2 other arenas that are better - Pepsi Center and Gila River Arena. Fans were great but Buffalo choked as usual and lost 2-3 to the San Jose Sharks.

I recently attended the Irish Classical Theatre's production of A Midsummer Night's Dream at the Kleinhans Music Hall with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra playing Mendelssohn's accompanying music. I've seen the play several times before and feel this was the best performance of all. The cast captured the magic of Shakespeare's words and the orchestra lifted the performance into a night that was unforgettable. The play-within-the-play was hilarious - one doesn't expect to find oneself helpless with laughter with Shakespeare - and I therefore commend the ICT on another triumph.
