This is exactly the kind of place that makes Tripadvisor so valuable...a not well known local treasure. This free museum on a main highway going into Aikin formerly was Aikin's "Carnegie Library." It has been beautifully and lovingly restored. The central story it tells is of a hugely talented youngster, Francis Lee Jaques & the Jaques Art Center Francis Lee Jaques was hired by the Museum of Natural History in NYC that sent him all over the world because of his enormous talent. Some of his most beautiful nature works are on display - they're stunning. Two books he wrote with his wife also are available for purchase along with other locally produced art. There are periodic shows featuring nearby artists and local stories. We were nearby at Ruttgers BayLake Lodge and checked Tripadvisor, which mentioned this. THANKS - this is a five story attraction for people who love art and stories about hugely talented rural people.

CLOSED for the season through May 2020. Charles Lindbergh's 1927 flight from New York to Paris launched an aviation revolution. Tour his boyhood home, explore the visitor center exhibits, including a "Spirit of St. Louis" flight simulator, and walk an interpretive trail along the river. Additional trails are located in the adjacent Charles A. Lindbergh State Park. The site is a National Historic Landmark.

The shop in Nisswa is always a fun experience. Staff are helpful, products are outstanding and I leave with ideas for using my latest vinegar and oil purchases. Salads are a staple in our farm-to-table diet. This vinegar and oil can't be beat as salad dressing. When I whisk in a little Dijon mustard it adds a twist. This store is one of the few that I find myself returning to semi-monthly.

In 1998 the city of Little Falls gave it's approval and support for the Minnesota Fishing Museum. The current collection of over 10,000 artifacts is beautifully displayed and lovingly maintained. A "log cabin" set recreates an old time fish camp at the lake. A large diorama depicts a typical spearing dark house on a frozen lake, complete with a Northern Pike moving in to be taken. Numerous displays showcase the artifacts found in many anglers' tackle boxes through the years. Motors dating back to 1902 are displayed throughout. The aquarium with live native fish is the focal point for learning and just plain relaxing. The Minnesota State record fish display inspires anglers to catch "the big one."

There’s so much to see, we could have stayed several more hours. There are displays covering every war in the history of Minnesota, and all kinds of vehicles and equipment out on the grounds. I very highly recommend this museum.

This has been a regular stop for me for several years. Unusual and interesting items; everything from shoes to clothes to jewelry to sunglasses to purses. The staff is always very helpful. Clearance items are on the front porch. There are two locations: Nisswa and Pequot Lakes.

We go to a lot of breweries in Minnesota. This one has an extensive selection of beers, they do flights, is in a cool building and has a great patio area. Couldn't ask for more, I dont think! Had a great time.

Starry Eyed never disappoints. I’m a local so we frequent the place and there’s always something new. They’ve expanded from craft beers into ciders and seltzers so even if you’re not a big beer person, there’s something for you. They have outdoor seating and fire pits too for those cool nights. Bring your own takeout food and enjoy the awesome atmosphere. The staff is great, Covid precautions in place. They have growlers and to-go beers too if you don’t feel like sitting.
