The Tanners Arms ale house features six handpulls which carry all-local real ales, judiciously chosen, fastidiously kept and a pleasure to sup; a good selection of whiskies to warm and revive every palate; regular live music sessions of all varieties; the most eclectic jukebox in Northumberland; and most important of all, a friendly, laid-back environment full of good crack and camaraderie. A good old-fashioned English pub, and a pleasant spot to while away an evening…
Popped in here whilst on an overnight in Alnwick. A friendly welcome and entertainment on their open mike slot. Really enjoyed it and would recommend to anyone.

*PLEASE NOTE ~ CURRENTLY CLOSED DUE TO COVID LOCKDOWN* 'Click & Collect' and Website Purchases available. Marilyn & Melrose is an Interiors & Lifestyle shop, based in the beautiful castle town of Alnwick, in Northumberland. We opened the shop in August 2012, introducing the North East to the wonders of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint™, painted furniture, up-cycling and of course …. fantastic Craft Workshops. We moved to new premises on Narrowgate in Alnwick and the shop has evolved into a lifestyle store, largely because we listened to our customers, and also because it was a natural progression. When you visit us, you will find a vast array of many beautiful items for your home …. soft furnishings, furniture, craft items, haberdashery, scented candles, beautiful jewellery, mind body and spirit items …. and clothes too. There are three floors of loveliness for you to explore. You can be assured of a very warm welcome and four-legged friends are welcome too. Best wishes from us both. xx
This is a lovely, friendly local shop with a wide range of high quality products to purchase. They are constantly getting in new items and have fantastic displays. I often pop in for a browse and always end up coming away with something that has caught my eye. My most recent purchase has been some new plant pots to add to my collection. The customer service in Marilyn and Melrose is exceptional. ????

'Situated in the heart of Alnwick, near the Hotspur Tower, our centre spans over three floors, offering day and evening courses, on a wide variety of subjects. You may be looking to gain a new skill, want to try something new and meet new friends We are always happy to welcome new artists, who may like to exhibit their work or run an art course.
Today I participated to the Floral Clay workshop and I really enjoyed the experience. The tutor is really experienced and they are all very friendly. The centre is Covid-19 secure with use of social distancing, hand sanitizer stations and use of masks. I will definitely come back for more workshops and/or tovisit the art suplies shop. I recommend this place to everybody.

This small gallery hosts small collections of other local artists, as well as Mick Oxley's stunning watercolour and mixed media paintings. You can therefore see displays of jewellery and pottery, as well as small gifts, so there is something for every pocket. Mr Oxley's sea scenes and capture of light are really worth a visit.
