Enjoy a unique experience on the only Punt of the River Avon. Escape the busy pavements and lie back into the cushions. Let yourself drift down the river and see the city as you never could on foot, it will compliment your view of the historic, cultured city of Salisbury.

Travelling in my comfortable air conditioned vehicle we can travel along those picturesque lanes. too narrow for large coaches following a route planned together. Classic car hire We have many routes for you to follow taking in the sights and scenery around Wiltshire, Somerset and the Cotswolds. From chocolate box villages with honey coloured stone cottages and thatch roofs to the ancient and mystical stones at Stonehenge and Avebury - we'll guide you down some of the most scenic roads the UK has to offer. For National Trust Members or those just interested in our fabulous heritage we have tours covering properties in 5 counties. For Inspector Morse fans we have researched the filming locations used and devised a tour taking in most - all you have to do is decide which of you plays Morse and which Lewis.
Hired an 1972 Alfa Spider for 24 hours from Friday midday to Saturday midday to stay at Whatley Manor. From my initial enquiry to the final wave goodbye the experience was exceptional. All the paperwork stuff is clearly explained, social distancing was well handled and didn't affect the enjoyment. Videos about the experience and the car in advance where very use. It was a professional experience but also a personal one as well, you really felt how they cared for the cars and know so much about them. The car itself was great fun to drive, old school, choke, heavy stearing and soft brakes, low to the road real driving. We were lucky with weather to be able to have the top down. Would highly recommend, hopefully we can hire again sometime.

Stourhead includes a Palladian house and world-famous landscape garden. The garden is perhaps the most beautiful and magical of all the great landscape gardens, Stourhead is an 18th-century view of an Arcadian paradise. On a plateau of high ground Stourhead house was built and became home to generations of the Hoare family.
There is a mansion in the Palladian style, gardens and extensive grounds. Admission is a touch expensive, but the chances are that you are already a National Trust member, but if you are not, it's worth considering especially as it will also save you £4 parking charges. I thought the house was fascinating, but excessively adorned and it gives the impression that quantity was more important than quality when bringing back stuff from the Grand Tour. However there are some gems like a John Piper painting and a Fredrick Leighton portrait. The grounds are magnificent and you are forever coming across temples or follies among the specimen trees and other plants as you walk round the lake. Picnics seem popular and the ice house is the best preserved I can remember seeing. Add in the gardens, shop, café and gallery and there is enough to do here for a whole day. Bear in mind that there is a good deal of walking, much of it up and down steep paths, so it could be a challenge for some and either wait for good weather or bring your waterproofs.

I love Marlborough and the High Street is quaint yet functional with a great mix of quirky and useful shops, and lots of places to eat and drink.

Set in the peaceful Wiltshire countryside beside a lake, Old Wardour Castle, near Tisbury was once one of the most daring and innovative homes in Britain. It was built in the 14th century as a lightly fortified luxury residence for comfortable living and lavish entertainment. Today the castle ruin provides a relaxed, romantic day out for couples, families and budding historians alike.
Hidden away along some very narrow country roads, this is a lovely place for an afternoon out. Take a picnic if the weather’s good, lovely spot to sit and plenty of running space to wear the kids out. A good climbing castle with the required narrow steep winding staircase to the top (there’s quite a bit that’s a lot easier to access!). Lovely views over the lake, well kept grounds as always with English Heritage. Definitely worth a visit.

This is our favourite NT small manor estate in North Wiltshire. It is worth taking one of the very interesting tours which are informative and informal. The rooms that are open to the public are not like stately manor rooms but comfortable and homey. There are photographs of the present owners who have raised their family in the rooms you are visiting and the Great Hall has often been used for local activities like dances, visiting plays take place in the gardens during the summer months and often plants from the gardens are for sale near the Medieval entrance. The Yew hedges are a special features for children to play and hide in, herbaceous borders are stunning in the summer months and you are welcomed by a moated property which oozes charm and character. Great Chalfield has been featured in many film and television series, most recently the Poldark TV series, the production of Wolf Hall, TV movie of Persuasion and the opening sequence of the movie ‘The Other Boleyn Girl’ when Henry VIII arrives to stay with his entourage to visit the Boleyn family. You need only spend a couple of hours here or you can spend more time In the gardens and walks nearby..
