Located on the northeastern coast of the Samana Peninsula, Las Terrenas offers miles of protected inshore waters and beautiful, undeveloped white-sand-beaches, lined with tall palm trees and pastel-colored fishing boats. Trade winds and the warm temperature of the sub-tropical Atlantic Ocean bring this part of the island year-round balmy weather. With a year-round average of 77 degrees Fahrenheit, the temperatures vary only 18 degrees between summer and winter.

Who does not dream of riding on the back of a horse on a wild beach or to discover lush vegetation while crossing tropical paths? Either a beginner or an advanced rider, Rancho Playa adapts its excursions to any level. Our two strategies are to respect our animals and for you to have an unforgettable experience.
Nicole and her team are exemplary! If you are looking for an amazing excursion in Las Terrenas, Dominican Republic, this is the place to go! The horses are extremely well maintained and trained well! We were a group of 7 (including 3 kids under 10) and were non-riders, we were all safe and at ease. Nicole provides everything you will ever need including chaps, and even a water break (water included) halfway between. Nicole and her team are extremely professional, fun, energetic, and informative. Customer service is top notch from beginning to end! Highly highly recommend if you are looking to horseback ride in Las Terrenas, Samana, Republica Dominicana.

Playa Bonita has the most wonderful beaches suitable for all family members. If you like playing in the surf, or surfing the waves on a surfboard or boogie board or just snorkeling in a quiet shallow lagoon, Playa Bonita has it all. And after spending the day enjoying the beach you can enjoy a wonderful meal at the resort dining area. Best pîna colada in the area!

Public beach with lots of lounge chairs available, even in high season. $1.25 each. (this may have been a scam, not sure). Nice setting, lots of shade available too. Beach service available at Afreeka, right next door.

This beautiful beach extends 1.8 km west from our Costarena Beach Hotel ending at a long jagged coral wall. While the beaches to our east are hammered with wind and water currents, this beach seems tranquil and pointed away from the wind with little signs of erosion. Its also shaded in many place with the high coconut palms, kept reasonably clean and nearly a perfect place to sun bathe. Being toward the end of the beach road, the traffic is much less than the other beaches and makes a nice walk. Private homes and condo complexes make up the interior.

The water is calm, warm and has great off the shore snorkeling. Great morning and evening walks. We felt safe when walking in the areas off the report.

-It is about 20mns away from Las Terrenas city (we were at the Albachiara Hotel) we found it to be in a little bit remote location but it is absolutely worthy to visit. (Hope you coming in your own vehicle or rent one cause I heard taxis are about us40 and you will get bored as hell if you don’t go out of your hotel) -There is a restaurant called Luis coson and is right on the beach. They serve drinks, coconut water in the coconut and to eat they offer octopus, shrimps, fish and lobster. As a side dish they offer french fries, white rice and red beans or fried plantains. It is the cheapest place to eat that I found in LT. They accept credit card but bring cash cause sometimes they run out of electricity or the signal can be bad. The waiter had to go with us to the city to find an ATM machine... (they have a tank with water to wash off the sand and I saw they have long chairs but don’t know if they charge extra. And For your info, they don’t have high chair if you come with children) -I wouldn’t suggest to stay in a hotel that is located in coson though because there is nothing to see or to do over there, just the beach. -If you stay in Las Terrenas town, near to punta popy, las terrenas beach, playa las ballenas or el pueblo de los pescadores, you will have more things to see and do near by even if you don’t have a vehicle. And you can also order food from the App “Komida” which I don’t think could be possible if you stay in Coson. And remember the curfew starts at 9pm so you probably would like to order something to eat after 9. -Make sure to carry your repellent because you can find mosquitoes in the whole town specially in coson???? (put it before you get out of the car, don’t wait till they bite you to use it) -Also bring bottled water because it’s very expensive in Las Terrenas (the regular price is RD$15 or RD$20 for 16oz but in Las Terrenas you will find it at RD$50 and RD$60) if you guys get thirsty you will have to buy several bottles cause one wont be enough for more than one person. -If coming with children maybe you could bring mosquito nest for the crib, just in case. (I didn’t have to use mine but you never know) -there are restaurants and bars that are closed on week days so please check the places you want to visit before you go -there are places that don’t take credit card -there are several places that don’t have high chair and some of them have just one -download the App Komida to check the menu and prices of some restaurants in the city -recommend restaurants: campo kitchen, dolce vita, porto, el balcon del mosquito
