I had the great pleasure of visiting Un Siècle de Roulottes yesterday and I was overwhelmed by the array of roulottes and the knowledge of our guide. We spent an hour and half visiting and asking questions and learning. I highly recommend this open air museum.

Small intimate cooking school offering one-day cooking classes on sun-drenched Provencal and Mediterranean food and classic French cuisine. We also offer cheese and wine matching courses. Based in Uzes - one of the prettiest towns in the South of France.
Just returned from an epic gastronomic trip to France. Over a couple of months, I spent many hours in various cooking classes tying to soak up the essence of French cuisine. Le Pistou was one of the days where a great teacher - thank you Petra - great classmates and a sense of shared learning and fun, combined to create a French cooking experience I’d highly recommend to any-one. Uzes itself was a surprise too. Very cute with loads of speciality shops and character. Petra added many stories whilst we all enjoyed the fruits of our labours with some wonderful wines. Cook, learn, laugh and leave with a smile on your face - Le Pistou will do all that for you whether you attend on your own or with others.

Last weekend I participated in an on-line class with Chef Eric . What fun...informative, too! We were sent the recipes for Fish in Papillote and Caleriac in Papillote. The recipes are well-written and easy to follow, but there is nothing like watching a chef actually working through all the steps. I have taken many classes at Cook'n with Class in Paris and never been disappointed, but until we can return to France again, this is a really nice alternative. I highly recommend Chef Eric's on-line classes.

Jardins de la Fontaine are really beautiful gardens. There are many water features, ponds and canals, as well as some remains from the Roman times, and there is a huge area you can wander around and enjoy and just relax. The garden was constructed sometime in the 17th century.

Enjoyed a few hours here in August sunshine. It caters for huge numbers of people but is absolutely vast with safe shallow waters and refreshments nearby. Car park is reasonable for what you are gaining access to, and every time you walk through the entry parting in the dunes it is like Holkham in Norfolk just with warmer and closer water!! Up to my neck in the Med with a huge shoal of small fish rolling with the gentle swell was just wonderful.

Bambouseraie en Cévennes Gardoise Losing track of time… finding happiness. In these troubled times where we tend to lose ourselves by trying to have it all, the Bambouseraie en Cévennes is quite unique… Here, in one of France’s most beautiful gardens, time dares stop to catch its breath: breathing inspires, disconnecting reconnects, lifting one’s head brings repose. A thousand and one varieties of bamboo, rare flowers, remarkable trees and plants make a trip into this unexpected landscape a timeless idyll. Unique in Europe since the 19th Century, the Bambouseraie en Cévennes offers a veritable one-way trip back to oneself.
I was a bit of a doubter, when hearing about this place. Even seeing some tourist pix. Bamboo? In Anduze?? Wow, was I mistaken!! This bamboo forest plus asian garden plus avenue of sequoias plus ... plus ... plus is one awesome place to visit. Even the gift shop (ask my wife) is worth writing home about! The trust has done a great job of representing bamboo in its many varieties. I was struck at one point with the sound of the wind in the tops of a nearby stand -- tops that were a good 40 feet above us!! And then there's the steam train that passes through on it way between Anduze and Saint-Jean-du-Gard. If you're in the area, you've gotta make time for La Bambouseraie!!
