Among its many tourist attractions, Taichung offers a downtown shopping experience similar to that of Tokyo or Manhattan, a bustling nightlife, and a cuisine to please even the pickiest palate. Travelers come to this city to feast their eyes on the temples, markets, parks, and museums. Touring families often visit the Taichung National Museum of Natural Science to marvel over the exhibits or the Feng Chia night market to purchase local goods. But perhaps what Taichung is known for the most is Bubble tea, the most famous beverage in the region.

Vegetarians can get plenty to eat here, but the real star of the show is the decor. Retro-themed with movie posters and old-school toys, it is a cute and kitschy place. We will be back - we thoroughly enjoyed the food and the value is good.

Bashibao is a streetside kiosk thatâs also connected with a similar noodle-styled kiosk. Delicious pork-filled bao with the sauces on the other side of the sidewalk. There is no seating and you make your order on the machine and bring our receipt to the counter. Super friendly service (theyâre really entertaining during the wait).

A beautiful oasis setting in the middle of Taichung City, this traditional Japanese-style tea house, complete with mats to sit on, is an elegant way to have a ladies' lunch. ALl of the little meals are the perfect size, and many are vegan-friendly. Personally I love the flower teas and the dried tofu.

Bubble tea origin
I often recommend foreign friends to visit the birthplace of bubble tea. Other than bubble tea, the jasmine lemon tea and tomato honey tea are also worth trying. Very refreshing and tasty!!The menu are with Chinese, English and Japanese. Easy to order and understand.

This place has been around since 1933 and the flavors hasn't changed from the last 30 years. A must for all foreign visitors searching real local food you can't get normally!A porkball covered in a gelatinous wrap with sauces most westerners haven't tasted. A nice balance of sweet and salty. Don't forget to get one of the 2 soups options. The menu is simple, just 3 options. K.I.S.S!

Founded in 1983, Chun Shui Tang infuses new life into the long-standing tea culture. Chun Shui Tang retains the best and original taste of traditional tea when creating a different method of tea drinking. Space arranging and decoration take a critical rol
Heard so much about Chun Shui Tang (the origin of Bubble Milk Tea in Taichung), so we decided to visit the origin store to try their milk tea. Ordered 2 large cups of bubble milk tea and they were pretty average, nothing much to rave about since the milk tea tasted similar to other brands. It was pretty expensive too - a large cup costs about TWD110 (if I didn't remember wrongly). Not worth the hype.Oh yes, we ordered the 50% and 80% sugar level but both tasted the same.

This is my first time having Hot and Sour steamboat so was slightly anxious to try. However, the waitress was very patient and always attentive to point out the sauce to use, the soup spiciness level, check the fire, etc. We ordered the 'Yuan Yang' combination which has the clear soup on one side while spicy on the other. It was interesting that she recommended you can mix the soup and amazingly, it taste really good ! Honestly, the duck blood taste better than pig blood in my opinion.

So, the food here is amazing. As a westerner turned onto hot pot recently, I am obsessed with trying new hot pot restaurants. The problem was the lack of respect, and complete disregard of normal service industry communication. No one told us about the hour and a half limit. NO ONE. My boyfriend and I were having a great date night, with hot pot and a bottle of Sake. We had finished our meal, and had a bit more Sake to finish up before we headed out. A waiter comes over, tells us that our time is up and that we need to leave. What?! If that's your house rule, you should probably tell your customers at the beginning of their meal. NOT at the end, making them feel rushed and disrespected. I am a server/bartender. I would never ever ever do this. I can't even fathom it. We called the next day to talk to a manager. Apparently there was a reservation waiting for the table. Funny thing is, there were many open tables and no one waiting in the lobby for a seat when we were rushed out. I will never go back here, and will do my best to deter people from eating at this rude establishment.

The soup dumplings are insanely delicious, especially the more unusual silk melon/shrimp ones. The NT70 appetizer made with tofu strips, seaweed, bean sprouts, and glass noodles is fabulous and a-must-order dish, and the Suan La Tang (Sour and Spicy Soup) made with bamboo slivers, tree mushroom slices, bean curd strips, and carrot shreds is one of the best I've ever eaten. Always a truly magnificent experience!
