Find out what Swiss restaurants to try in Zermatt. When most people think of Zermatt, they think of one thing: The Matterhorn. This ultimate Swiss icon looms over Zermatt, first drawing visitors here in the 1860s. The village of Zermatt itself is lovely and car-free, with old-fashioned brown chalets and winding alleys. (Don’t worry, you don’t have to walk everywhere—there are electric vehicles and horse-drawn cabs.) Skiing in the region often lasts through early summer, but when the weather’s warmer, it’s a great time to hike.

Tanja and Dave run this stylish restaurant hut at Rippfelalp in Zermatt, and it hit the spot on a rainy vacation day, when three friends and I hiked through the forest with no agenda. As if by magic, the skies opened oh-so-briefly, just as we arrived at their patio, giving us a mystical view of the shrouded Matterhorn. Then, we enjoyed gourmet salads and wine as well as our hosts' good humor. They are both characters with many stories to tell and clearly love greeting hikers and dignitaries alike in their charming spot.

The food and service at this 5* hotel was expensive but, in the main, hugely worth it. We had the 5 course tasting menu with matching wines. The food was generally sublime and delicate, the highlights being the halibut with leeks (the best) and also the lamb course. The salmon with veal knuckle sauce was one of the more bizarre entries! The wine pairings were generally good too, although we found the dry cider served with the salmon strange and the super Tuscan with the lamb overpowering (Pinot Noir might have been better?). The Swiss port with the cheese was, well, an experience. Everything was served with huge charm, smiles and helpfulness. We thought the home baked breads utterly sublime.

If you are looking for a fantastic fine dining experience in Zermatt, this is the place. Except for one very small complaint below, we were so impressed with everything. Everyone who works here is so attentive to detail. The menu is excellent, easy to combine and all of the dishes our group of five tried were so well presented and tasty. They also cater to special dietary needs on request. We were in foodie heaven! Some of us at the table decided to order an additional main course. This normally creates a problem for the kitchen to time the arrival of our desserts, and anyone who has done this before knows that if the added order it takes too long, the point of ordering a second dish is lost. But the waitress knew all about this and they rush ordered our extra dishes. They have an excellent selection of wines to match everything provided they don't give you the wrong wine menu. That was our only complaint. We were left fumbling with a wine list that didn't make sense until they came and changed it for us.Dear Lisa JThank you very much for your rating.Hope to see you soon again.Have a nice dayRegardsLukas MeierHotel & Operations Manager

We've stayed twice at the Beau Rivage Hotel, but only dined here once. It was a culinary treat. Menu features Swiss meats & fare which is delicately plated at your table by up to three professional wait staff. The veal and local perch were wonderful. The beef rivaled excellent cuts from the USA's finest. Wonderful selection of vegetables all seasoned perfectly. This was one of my favorite travel meals ever! That said, the prices are somewhat high, but what we've come to expect in an expensive country such as Switzerland. With drinks you be looking at $150, but it was worth it to us midrange travelers who splurge at least a time or two as we travel.

If you're looking for THE fondue experience, this is the place to go. Jeffery will guide you for the best experience for your family. Try to make a reservation because while we were there, many tables were reserved and a lot of people were turned away. Lastly, don't forget the dessert - chocolate fondue.

As an alpine restaurant, Blatten exists since the beginnings of tourism in Zermatt and it has kept its traditional appearance. Initially, around 1850, it was a little teahouse run by the family. Since the early 1950s, the mother Ludowika has been the host
After completing our Furi loop hike, we opted to hike to Blatten. Finding this alpine restaurant in the afternoon was most welcome. We enjoyed dining on the deck with wine, beer, rosti, salads, all the while taking in the awesome mountain scenery. There is also indoor seating if the mountain weather is less than accommodating. The service was excellent and we enjoyed chatting with the owners. We would definitely enjoy dining here again if we were to visit Zermatt.Dear RoseDewThank you very much for your kind words on TripAdvisor. The food here is excellent and the views unsurpassed. Specialities are the fish soup and some excellent Ravioli best is truffle (black) although there are also great salads with carpaccio and grilled scampi. A great way to spend a couple of hours over a leisurely lunch

Mountain Restaurant
As last year we made sure we passed by this restaurant on one of our hikes. The food is simply delicious. The nice thing is also that you have to hike to get to this place at all and therefor itâs not overwhelmed with day-trip tourists which only use the gondolas. Super food, super service, we will be back!
