Find out what Swiss restaurants to try in Lucerne. Lucerne is an ancient town with strikingly modern sensibilities. One of Europe’s oldest covered bridges serves as its centerpiece, and fresco-adorned historic houses line the streets, but it’s also home to the cutting-edge KKL, a concert hall and art gallery. Take the cableways up the Pilatus, Stanserhorn or Rigi mountains for breathtaking views, or see Lake Lucerne on a steamship cruise.

We later discovered the restaurant was attached to the hotel where we staying (Ambassador), so easy walk home. Great salad bar to start. Bread and whipped butter. Cold beer and wine. I had the veal Cordon Bleu, my wife had the perch fritters. Both very nice. No room for dessert. Hello from LucerneThanks for the five Stars and full Points. Thank you also for the very positive Review and comment about the veal cordon-bleu. One of our signature dishes. You have to come back to try our Desserts (G), especially now, with the chestnut Vermicelles togheter with grapes and Vanilla Ice Cream.- A real Dream. With best RegardsFerdinand Zehnder and Team

Would never have found this place if it hadn't been for a cowboy wedding party we came to! It's not very fancy, but a down to earth great restaurant. Excellent food, excellent very friendly service and a fabulous atmosphere. We will come again.

We stopped for lunch in Lucerne on our way back from Italy in this lovely restaurant. We enjoyed the terrasse, had mushrooms noodles with cream. (I missed the cream in southern Italy). The mushroom were nice, fresh, crisp, the cream very tasty and the noodles perfect. (could have used a bit more seasoning, but better less salt then too much)I like the modern, well executed touch to traditional dishes.Started with a nice crisp cucumber/lettuce salad, good dressing.Very friendly staff.Dear DumboLuxWe appreciate your comment on your lunch-stay in August at STERN. It is a big pleasure that you share this with us and all the other Tripadvisor-users. We'd be more than happy to welcoming you with us soon.Wishing you all the best!Your STERN Team

It's not always easy to find a place to eat when you are hungry. It's best to be hungry at lunchtime (noon-2pm) when the restaurants offer their daily menu at a reasonable price. The service was friendly. The sun was shining. People were happy.

A nice lakeside option. Within the Hermitage hotel, good menu and nice terrace overlooking the lake. The price is relatively high for what you get but service and food quality is good. Was an outstanding experience. We had the five course meal with wine pairings. We ordered slightly different courses. But our favorite was one was a play on creamed spinach served in an egg. The beef carpaccio was not thin sliced and there was too much beef. The wine pairings were perfect and they were generous with the pours. We also really enjoyed the cheese course with the tawny port.Thank you so much for your outstanding review! We are delighted that you had an enjoyable evening at our restaurant. It would be our pleasure to welcome you soon again with us.

Had we not just gotten into town or had I known of any other option at 8pm, I wouldâve chosen elsewhere. But I made reservations a while ago so we stayed because we were hungry. Unfortunately, it was during the heat wave over Europe and this place has no A/C. Add to that an open kitchen and it was crazy hot inside. It was hot outside too, but there were smokers everywhere and we hate smoke more than heat- so inside we sat. Obviously, they canât do anything about the heat, but they can prevent a meal from unnecessarily lasting 2 hours. There was only one other table inside and they were ahead of us (eating desserts before we got our dinner) and a couple tables outside. But it took 2 hours for our meal. So in the case of a non-AC restaurant, help a gal out and stop taking 30 minutes between dishes. Itâs not like we ordered risotto or asked them to thresh some wheat before making our bread. Plus when itâs that hot and your sitting forever, food just isnât as appealing. Now, on to the box. I was certainly intrigued by the box concept. For those who havenât been- they bring a wooden box to the table where it attaches and they open it up with grand ceremony and indications of how the meal will proceed. But hereâs the reality... the box holds salt/pepper, a candle/matches, a tin cup with some crackers and cream cheese in a toothpaste type tube- and sugar for coffee. Thatâs it. Thatâs the end of the box. It doesnât factor into any meal at all. So really that just seems gimmicky vs innovative. The food was above average to average. My falafel was way over fried into black crumbs but my husband enjoyed his veal. However- even a good dish canât make up for the misses. Server was friendly enough, but definitely not in a rush. They speak English which was helpful. But after spending the past 2+ weeks in Europe- this dinner is near the bottom. Dear chamdexthank you for your comment even we are unhappy to read, that you didn't like the experience with us. You are right regarding the heat, but please note that we are in a historic house and therefore we are not allowed to install an A/C. Luckily in Switzerland there are not many days with temperatures like that... Now regarding the waiting time it is usual at our place, that people have 2 hours to spend. It would have been helpful to know that you want to get a fast meal. Also the box is part of our experience, but we accept if it hasn't convinced you. We hope you enjoyed the rest of your trip through Europe and who knows, maybe one day you come back to give us a second chance...best regards, your Werkstatt-Team
