Bergrestaurant, Skihütte
Went twice in the same week! First time we planned for a great mid-day dinner with dessert. We were not disappointed. My husband and I, both chose the Walliser Steak. It was delicious, the cooking was perfect. Following that my husband had an awesome brownie and ice cream dish and I had an ice cream dish with a carmel liquified sauce on it. Wow!The second time we drank hot chocolate with Bailey's in it. Yummy. The setting in the middle of the ski run (winter) and mid-way in the hiking up or down the mountian (summer) is dazzeling! Our experience has been this summer and we could see the peaks of other mountians in the Alps. There are a couple of goats in a large grass pen that children can pet. There are bunnies too. I witnessed the goats and bunnies being taken care of so beautifully. Those are definitely happy critters. As we walk along the path we passed through a group of cows grazing. The cows were wearing traditional cow bells. As a tourist, this is a perfect place to stop and enjoy a traditional Swiss meal and even a dessert that the managers developed. Managers Tobias and Andy made sure our service was tops. The prices very fair in Swiss standards. If you are planning to eat out in Reideralp, go for Chue Stall!

Once we discovered this restaurant, we didn't look back. Doesn't compare to anything else in the vicinity. The only other restaurant of comparable quality in Riederalp is located at the other end of the village, so depending on the location of your hotel you can choose to visit one or the other, if you want to stay within reasonable walking distance after a long day on the slopes. Great variety of traditional Swiss dishes, excellent presentation and quality, warm and beautiful wooden interior, plenty of small touches which show that this is clearly above average. The perfect Alpine ambiance!

I've eaten here numerous times over several years and we only ever order the Spätzle and Ãlplermagronen with apple sauce as they're so good. Compared to other restaurants in Bettmeralp, Panorama is reasonably priced and in a great location to sit, enjoy the sun on the terrace and watch the world go by. Menus available with English translations if needed.

As a foreigner living and working in Switzerland this never ceases to amaze me. The acceptance of bad service and value. I visited Bettmer Hitta in a party of 3, for lunch during a ski weekend. It is located very nicely the scenery is amazing, surrounded by snowy alps. We ordered food and drinks. I opted for the Bettmer Käseschnitte (20 chf) and my mother-in-law and girlfriend decided to split 1 portion of homemade spätzli (23chf).The food took ages to arrive. After 40 min the spätzli arrived, no apologies from the waitress. and after 1 hour and 10 min my Käseschnitte arrived, by this time the others had already finished and i had to eat alone. Again no apology from the staff. This is in my book completely unacceptable! I ventilate my thoughts and my girlfriend and mother-in-law (both swiss) say that this is completely normal which i find so bad. Most people living in Switzerland know that eating out is over prized and almost always badly made (considering the price). But this was just too much. I have never experienced bad service like this, like you are supposed to be grateful to be there and just sit and take it. Never again.

This has been our favorite dinner experience in Switzerland, most of our time in which has been in this Aletsch Arena area. The food was amazing, with beautiful presentation as well. The wine list is extensive, backed by a great wine cellar, and our choice of a recommended organic Pinot Noir from the area was excellent. The restaurant and the hotel it is part of are so beautiful, with a wonderful view and a lot of character - a reading room with the fireplace burning and a "smoking room" with a turntable and large collection of classic rock LPs, for example. But most of all, the friendly and kind service and attention made us feel as part of the family and we want to go back not just to eat but to stay in the hotel when possible. The price of the food was very reasonable too, with a complete fixed price menu available for 47-53 Francs (depending on choices) which included appetizer, soup, the beautiful salad buffet, a full entree, and an excellent dessert. We especially loved that there is a lot of attention to making things natural and healthful, with many organic options and with a wonderful salad buffet with beautiful varieties of fresh greens and vegetables and many kinds of organic oils, vinegars, homemade dressings, etc. There are good vegetarian options on the menu and so it's really a place you can feel like coming back to repeatedly and it will be good for you. And they accept American Express!

We booked a room to join friends for a couple of days who were already staying there. We were offered a pricey room (over 300.-) and on arrival were really disappointed with the tired and old fashioned (35 year) furniture, bedding, bathrooms (broken WC seat, broken bin) etc. WIFI is also not brilliant. There is a beautiful-sized sitting room under the eaves, but soooo tired and old fashioned, it's where the WiFi works best, but it's so dreary you wouldn't want to spend more time than necessary there. The food was ok. I've had much better half-board, spring rolls or bruschetta for starters, in a Swiss alpine restaurant in winter??? The meat fondue was fine, but tiny portions of meat and filling us up with potatoes... Even in the regular restaurant, tiny portions of Wallis specialities, compared to where we had lunch on the ski trails. I think this is a hotel which can be fine for the cheaper rooms, but for 10 francs more we could have been in the five star, new, with spa, hotel just up the road. Everything seems to be a bit too much trouble for the owner (the pick-up at the cable car was so unwelcoming and unfriendly, no smile, just irritation), which is a shame as he is in the hospitality business. Some of the serving personnel can barely speak German and service turns out to be a bit brusque and almost rude, despite it probably only being a language problem. They realised they'd forgotten a bottle of wine after we left and sent the bill on to us a week later... Not brilliant publicity. We'll not be returning as it was far too expensive for what we got. I think family deals or the dependence for young skiers are probably ok though.

After walking around on the Bettmerhorn, looking with astonishment to the quiet Aletschgletscher (the longest glacier in the Alps) and the visit of the museum we had a drink, some dry meat and cheese in this self service restaurant. Food and drinks were nice and the staff friendly and helpful. The view around the mountain panorama with all this over 4'000 m tops is great. Cows, sheep, marmots are around as well as the curious mountain jackdaws.

We had dinner at the Alpina during peak season. Leading with the good news: despite the restaurant being quite busy, we were served timely and very friendly. The bad news: the food was terrible. Undercooked schnitzel, undercooked rice with overcooked vegetables. Despite the good service, not eating there again. (the two- instead of one-star is really only thanks to the good service)

In Autumn 2014 the restaurant "Bettmerhof" was redesigned in a trendy Alpine ambience. In this restaurant you will enjoy delicious specialties from Switzerland and Italy with breathtaking views to the Valais mountains. Enjoy the fresh cuisine of our chef
we booked the hotel with breakfast and dinner. But even as a veggie family we were very well treated and every morning we were asked whether we would like to have something special for dinner
