Wir haben Betriebsferien vom 27.06.2019 bis 04.08.2019 Wir freuen uns auf einen Besuch nach unseren Sommerferien. Ihr Markplatz-Team
Had the 4 course meal tonight and it was spectacular! Asparagus and shrimp salad, smoked meat cream soup, beef medallions and strawberries with whipped cream and Ice cream. Finally an espresso. Every course was perfectly presented and scrumptious. The atmosphere was lovely. There were many local families eating and playing cards. The hostess was great but only spoke German. The chef was friendly and entertaining. He spoke in German, English and was also fluent in Spanish. My boyfriend thoroughly enjoyed conversing in Spanish with him. A great place to enjoy a meal.

Cases of goodies and mouth-watering aromas greet each person immediately upon entering. Everything from hearty breads to delicate pastries can be found here. There is also a picturesque oven in one of the walls, below which is a table laden with crusty loaves. The bakery also offers restaurant seating if you have the time to linger for tea or lunch. Unfortunately, we did not. If time is short, feast your eyes, at then breathe in all the fantastic smells......

We had dinner at Restaurant Hof on our one night in Appenzell. Like everything in Switzerland, it wasn't cheap. The service was pleasant and the food was pretty good. Only disappointment was my rosti which was swimming in cheese and was quite greasy. The rest of the food was very nice though.

My wife and I picked this place after stopping by to see the menu. When we were doing that a waitress walked by with a wonderful looking bowl of macaroni and cheese. I had the grilled Appenzeller sausage called Lanfsgemeindeschublig. The sausage came with the aforementioned Mac and Cheese which was better than it looked! Might be the best I have ever eaten. My wife had the Veal Cordon Bleu which was also very good. Would definitely eat here again.

we often passed the place and today we first time had dinner in the newly renovated restaurant. The ambiance was absolutely great. A fusion of old and new with a great view into the "Alpstein". The service has been very helpfull and nice. The food and quality of it has been absolutely top level.....a huge positive surprise. Pricing was ok...for its level of quality. Only two drawbacks....-paying by credit card is beeing punished by an additional 2.5% which ist kind of ridiculous if you spend a nice amount of money for the dinner. -sidedishes have to be paid extra....I feel this is not needed...if needed increase the price for the course but have the side dish included. Conclusion: Anytime again...great place to go and enjoy.

right across our Hotel Appenzell during the 2018 Landsgemeinde we spent the evening at the Santis. Very typical dinner lounge on the first floor, a lively crowd of visitors and local politicians discussing the votes, we had a nice local specialties dinner, soup mixed salad and sausages. friendly service and good wine list. Startied with an Appenzell beer and ended with an Appenzeller, the herbal hot drinkDear Ivan MWe are very happy that you enjoyed your stay after the Landsgemeinde with us. Thank you for all the compliments regarding the food and beverages, especially the good wine list. It would be an honour to welcome you back in future!Have a great time and all the bestRomantik Hotel SäntisStefan A. HeebHotelier

Just barely off the large square in town, the zur Linde offers a small outdoor (in good weather) area to eat and drink and a typical Swiss and Appenzell interior. Every Wednesday in the evening around 7 or so, a group of local folks come in and socialize and sing older Appenzeller songs all a capella. Their voices are strong and sweet and it is a wonderful way to get a sense of the area and its hard-working people. The food is, by the way, some of the best Swiss fare you will find anywhere. Chicken with morels? Kalbsbratwurst with rosti? Spaetzli? Send me in, coach!

Our Hotel is located in the center of Appenzell, directly at the historical Landsgemeindeplatz. «S'Appezöll», as the locals call it, is the perfect meeting place for a fine lunch, for coffee and cake, a homemade dessert, an aperitif or a dinner with candl
On our second night in Appenzell we chose another Rick Steves recommended restaurant, this time the Cafe-Hotel Appenzell. With the weather cooperating, we sat out for dinner and as they were celebrating asparagus season, I had cream of asparagus soup and my wife and I both had the special of chicken breast over white and green asparagus, which was heavenly! Luckily we both managed to fit in dessert as well; mine was a very creamy Tiramisu. I would recommend Cafe-Hotel Appenzell most highly. As many of the eateries we ate at, they try to use local produce.

My dad and I came to this bar/restaurant on a recent trip to Appenzell. Service was super quick and the food was really nice. Would come again!
