Reviews on Sushi food in Bethesda, Maryland, United States. Bethesda is an unincorporated, census-designated place in southern Montgomery County, Maryland, United States, located just northwest of the U.S. capital of Washington, D.C. It takes its name from a local church, the Bethesda Meeting House (1820, rebuilt 1849), which in turn took its name from Jerusalem's Pool of Bethesda. In Aramaic, ܒܝܬ ܚܣܕܐ beth ḥesda means "House of Mercy" and in Hebrew, בית חסד "beit ḥesed" means "House of Kindness". The National Institutes of Health main campus and the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center are in Bethesda, as are a number of corporate and government headquarters.

We had dinner here because we happened to be close-by and, while the sushi we ate here was not only very good, but also prepared quickly, the vegetable udon dish I had ordered was tasteless. It seemed prepared without any inspiration. On the side of the ambiance, the decor is nice but, unfortunately, the service staff did not seem very welcoming.

Very disappointed with the dining experience. The chef cooking for us seemed to be more interested in the party at the next table than ours. Boring !!!The soup tasted watery and was served lukewarm. The amount of money we spent we should have stopped by at Mc Donalds.Maarit, With your feedback, we look forward to improving the guest experience, and would like to thank you for taking the time to share your review with us. This was my first time here for lunch, and I left with good impression. Came at 1:30p Monday, so not busy. Lunch menu features a great value: sashimi special for $9.95 ($5 more during dinner hours). Cali roll was as expected although I did like how this version was prepared as i like "faux shredded crab" versus "fake crab sticks". But i was happy about the sashimi portion size being slightly above average and I appreciated getting salmon, white tuna (not much a fan of red tuna), and red snapper (Iâve never seen a menu that offered red snapper; itâs usually whitefish).Being hungry, I also ordered the seafood udon noodle soup. Had lots of fresh ingredients, tasty light broth that was probably more chicken stock then miso-based, and served in a large "cast iron kettle" which upped its presentation score ... and quite shareable for 2 (perhaps as an appetizer for 2).Place can only sit about 20 patrons at the tables and 4 or 5 at the bar. Among the several sushi restaurants in downtown Bethesda, my Top 3 are now: Raku (good food + good dining experience and environment for you and your party), Maki Maki (great lunch option for yourself or with a dining partner without the fanfare), and Satsuma (hard to beat their $1 per sushi ongoing special).

Japanese restaurant and bar featuring, sushi, sake, and traditional Japanese fare.
The pork based ramen soup was good and full of noodles. We shared one bowl among 3 of us and it was a perfect appetizer. We then ordered three different sushi specials which were large and tasty. The green tea was charged as separate drinks rather than leaving a pot on the table tho cups were continually refilled. Parking is a challenge.

Satsuma has become my favorite Japanese place restaurant in the DMV area. I go to Satsuma about once a week or every two weeks, and sometime more than once a week. Sushi and Sashimi is so fresh. They offer the amazing toro (belly) for both salmon and yellowtail and most amazingly for a dollar a piece. I know some of you maybe thinking at this price, the quality is probably not great; that's absolutely untrue for Satsuma. The quality is five-star and the price is so reasonable, that's why it's my favorite Japanese place in the whole DMV area!Romens is also great. The tonkotsu ramen or pork is tasty, but my favorites are spicy miso and curry. Also really good is the slow cook pork with rice, an appetizer. My absolute favorite is their happy hours Monday through Thursday evening from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Select BBQ dishes are 40% off with top quality meat. This is absolutely the best quality Japanese food you can get in the greater DMV area and is truly authentic owned by a Japanese gentleman, rather than most other Japanese place owned by Koreans or Chinese.

Yuzu Bethesda is authentic Japanese restaurant dedicated to serving fresh, seasonal traditional Japanese fare. For the past 28 years, Chef Yoshihisa Ota has practiced the art of sushi making in the United States and Japan. Yuzu brings high end small plate
This place is right across from the bethesda red line metro next to the residence inn hotel. Itâs a comfy restaurant with really nice staff. The food here is quality and very tasty. I ordered the fragrant cherry blossom green tea (from capital tea) - $3 gets you a whole pot (2 large cups), the crunchy spicy tuna sushi (6pc) for $7 and their hot pot which has veggies, seaweed, and every protein (chxn, fish, shrimp, fake crab meat, tofu) for $16. The broth was hot, slightly salted with a hint of sweet. The Yuzu and green tea ice cream $5 was good but nothing spectacular. Overall, the bill came to just over $32 before tip. Itâs good food for a slightly higher price point than what you can find elsewhere. Iâd say itâs worth it to support a local business that puts out a good product.

I come here often. The sushi I find to be quite good. There is a lot of traffic around the front area as they do a huge take out business. At common dinner times it can be very busy.Don't judge the restaurant by the looks of the building it is in!

Tako Grill is a Japanese restaurant serving classic Japanese dishes and very fresh and exquisite sushi. It started as a partnership between two Japanese chefs opening up a Sushi take out restaurant named Kanpai in 1986 at Glen Echo in Bethesda and continu
Went here for dinner after reading many positive reviews and wasn't thrilled. The restaurant was not busy and I was seated right away. They offer both a sushi menu and a menu for other Japanese items. I ordered off the sushi menu and though my rolls were ok. It is reasonably priced but the service was kind of slow and I had to ask to have my drink refilled multiple times.

The place is busy and you have to be sharp to find a spot/table at happy hour. I waited a good 20 minutes to snag a high table for 2 and the waitress was very quick, polite, and good. Ordered a good pour of wine at $5 and got oysters, sushi, empanadas and all the food was good. The waitress was on top of things in spite of how busy/crowded/noisy it was. Will come back for more happy hour.

I had wanted a light Japanese lunch in anticipation of a heavy dinner. And this place did not disappoint. I ordered the sashimi bento and it was just right in amount and tasty in quality. The food was fresh and well presented. The decor too is interesting. I sat in a booth with the side to the wall that had what looked like a metallic patina--it's actually ceramic tiles. I know because I had a table with that surface once.Nice.
