With hundreds of man-made lakes, state parks, casinos, museums and nightlife and dining opportunities in revitalized downtown areas in Oklahoma City and Tulsa, there is a lot to see and do in the Sooner State. The state is dotted with phenomenal lakes where swimming, boating and bass fishing are the most desired activities. Some of the state’s most popular lakes include Broken Bow Lake located near the Quachita Mountains; Grand Lake in the northeastern corner of the state at the foothills of the Ozark Mountains and Lake Murray in the hills in the southern part of the state.
While the state is known for its many outdoor activities like great fishing, golf, hiking, canoeing and boating, make sure you don’t overlook its fantastic museums. Heading the list are Gilcrease Museum in Tulsa, featuring the world’s largest collection of art and artifacts from the American West; the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City, which tells the story of the American Cowboy; and the Oklahoma City Museum of Art, which has a permanent collection of American and European art. A venerable family favorite activity is Frontier City Amusement Park in Oklahoma City, which has dozens of rides and shows.

The Black mesa area is transitional land between the prairies and the Rocky Mountains.
This region of Oklahoma is geologically different than most of the rest. It’s close to the volcano field of New Mexico. Their is a reservoir. There is a nice mix of short and long hikes. The wildlife is abundant. I love the rock formations, the petrified wood, and the plants.

The state's first national park.
This is one of my favorite places to go to. It is a beautiful park with lots of trees making it great on a hot summer day. There is a lot of camping sites, You can almost always get a campsite unless it is a holiday. Most of the campsites are shaded. They have 2 campgrounds with restrooms. There is only 1 hook up spot. There are no showers here, to use the shower you will need to drive to the Arbuckle Lake. They do have drinking water in the campsites, This place is great for tent campers as well as trailers., they have a lot of pull through sites. There is a lot of hiking trails, a nature center - it is really neat and the stuff is always so nice and friendly There is a creek that runs all through the park providing lots of swimming areas, the water comes from underground springs and is pretty cold. There is also a great picnic area if you are going just for the day. You are just minutes away from town if you forget or run out of something. A great place to bring the family.

Just a short drive from Tulsa and Northwest Arkansas, this state park has plenty to offer. The main attraction of course, are the falls. A relatively short, paved path meanders to the top of the falls where there is a viewing platform that hangs over the edge. Then a steep paved walkway winds down to a scenic boardwalk that approaches the base of the spectacular falls. If looking for a longer trek, the park has several other trails that offer a more traditional hiking experience with rugged terrain. Our favorite was the Ghost Coon Trail. The park also offers a nice 18-hole disc golf course. The course covers a lot of ground and offers a variety of difficulty and terrain. While well maintained overall, I suggest picking up a course map at the main office. There's also one posted outside the restrooms. The campground was also quite nice. Even though we were tent camping, we opted to camp in the RV area. Our site was spacious with plenty of trees, a nice fire pit, lantern hook, and a table. One thing to note: There are light poles scattered throughout the RV area. While it's nice to see at night, it added a little too much light which made it a little harder to see the stars and enjoy the glow of the fire. To summarize, this is a well maintained park with beautiful scenery that offers a variety of recreation options year round.

Driving across the panhandle big Oklahoma I stopped at this remarkable site. It is designed for Off Road Vehicles so I imagine it would be noisy on weekends. But on a Thursday morning it was peaceful and sublime. They have an awesome observation deck and informative signs. I just loved it.

Beautiful park with picnic areas, open spaces, tiny lake with paddle boats and canoes, store with camping/picnic supplies, little nature center museum with great information. All of the staff was very nice and helpful. Good hiking-the cave area was crowded, but that is to be expected. So glad we made the stop for a day trip.

It’s a beautiful place to see. The stairs up would be a bit of a challenge for elderly. I feel like if you are driving out to see it, I’d stop by Jett Oklahoma for Crystal Digging or Alabaster Caves depending on what direction you are coming from. We drove two hours to see this and I wished I would have gone to see more places to make a whole day of it.

Mainly want to leave a review over the cabin! We stayed with family in both a cabin and some in RVs. We were given the handicapped cabin! My mom who was with us is wheelchair bound and so we were so happy that this cabin is 100% wheel chair accessible! We have stayed many places that mention that it is wheelchair/handicapped accessible and it is in no way that but this cabin is perfect! She uses a wider wheelchair also and had plenty of room to enter and move around the cabin. She was able to move around as needed to use the restroom and shower(which is a roll in shower with a heavy duty bench seat). The sinks and bed was low enough for her to use and transfer into. They had perfect parking for your cabin and the ramp was built well! They had a picnic table and fire pit area that was perfect to sit out at. I highly recommend anyone who avoids traveling because of handicapped reasons to try a few days here! It is a very quiet and relaxing area!
